My brother is on prozac for about a year. Recently he heard that St Johns Wort can be very effective cure for anxiety. He would like to try it but he doesn’t know can he use St Johns Wort while he is on prozac. Is it Ok to mix St Johns Wort and prozac for anxiety?

Although he has the best intentions, he shouldn’t mix anxiety medications. First of all even if you read the labels carefully you will notice the warning that it shouldn’t be taken together with some other drugs and then you will have the list of these drugs.
Second if he thinks that Prozac isn’t working any more than he should inform his doctor about this and see what he is going to suggest. Of course, he can let him know that he would like to switch from Prozac to St Johns Worth and if the doctor agrees then it is fine and safe to switch to these new medications. Otherwise I wouldn’t do that because you never know what can happen.
