Weight gain is a very common lexapro’s side effect. Some people use it for gaining weight.
The thing is that almost all antidepressants do that but not in all people.
These drugs may increase your appetite and increase your desire for carbohydrate. They also slow down the metabolism as they prevent some enzymes from the liver that usually keep the metabolism going. And yet, they may cause hormonal changes and contribute to weigh gain that way.
Many people just stop their treatments because of this side effect.
I reckon that you should keep watching for what you eat and exercise regularly. This will definitely keep some pounds from piling. You may also talk to your doctor about changing the dosage and see if that works.
