Hello, I am concerned for my kid. He is 8 years old and goes to a same class with a kid who suffers from juvenile dermatomyositis. Is that a transmitted disease? I mean, I assume that it is not, or else the kid would not be allowed to go to school, but still, I am just a worried parent, especially when I heard about the symptoms.

Juvenile dermatomyositis is not something that a person can get from a contact with infected person. Therefore, your son is safe. This condition is all about genetics and that is how that poor kid got it. Hopefully, the doctors will be able to deal with the symptoms and after the therapy that lasts for only couple of days, he should be fine.
