Hi, my son is 7 years old and he has been diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis. What started as a common rash, ended up as a serious condition that involves even muscle spasms. Doctor said that the treatment should be successful, but I am worried because he has to take a lot of steroids. Is there any alternative treatment for JDMS?

Well, perhaps there is, but why would you seek an alternative when the current treatment will be very effective. What is even more positive, the therapy lasts for only three days! And yes, the medications used are strong, but so is the condition your kid suffers from. I don’t think you will have the time for searching for a new kind of therapy – use the existing one.
