Hi, guys. My neighbors became parents, but it seems that their kid has down syndrome. I cannot describe you how sorry I am. I know that this cannot be healed. What is life expectancy for someone with this syndrome? Does anyone have any idea? I would appreciate if you could tell me something more.

Hello, there. Down syndrome is indeed tough disease. However, life expectancy and the longevity have rapidly increased for the last few decades. The average life expectancy in the beginning of 1980’s was 25. In 2002 this value is 49! They used to die due to heart problems. Nowadays, the leading cause of death is neurodegenerative diseases. I am talking about Alzheimer’s disease. I hope I have helped you a little. Bye!
