Birth control release hormones, these hormones are what will or can cause you to have a period.  It really isn't harmful at all to not have periods, doctors are usually OK with this.  I would have died to be in your shoes when I had my period as they were soooo heavy and painful that I couldn't stand it, I had my hysterectomy last year and would do it over and over again.

As long as your doctor has tested your hormone levels and said that those are fine, then nothing the matter with not doing anything about it.  Are you trying to conceive, because that would be the time you would want to have regular periods so that you know when you ovulate for your fertile days.

Hope this helps

Your body isnt releasing eggs regularly which is why your periods only show once a year. The combination pill regulates this so when your ready to start a family you'll be able to achieve this easier and sooner. I'm taking this pill to regulate my periods too so I can get pregnant later on. Its worth seeing your doctor or someone who can tell you whats best for you.

Good luck.
