Why is my period lasting so long???

I have been on birth control for awhile now and I am currently taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I've been on it for about 5 months now with no problems, until now. About two weeks ago I accidently dropped one pill down the drain (I did not have unprotected sex at all after that) and a few days later I got my period (a week early) and now I've had it for almost two weeks and have since stopped taking the pills. Its not heavy bleeding and I do not have cramps...Does anyone who if this is normal? How long should period last? Is 2 weeks juts too much?

Well, hormones are tricky. I would never say that missing one pill would cause a lot of trouble but you never know.

Since you've been bleeding for two weeks, you should make an appointment with your gyn. Long bleeding (luckily yours is not heavy) could lead to anemia. You should report this to your doc and see what's going on or at least have that period stopped. Bleeding for two weeks is not ok.

I'm on the same exact birth control and the same thing happened. i had a amazing daughter 8 months ago and decided to go on birth control. i messed up my daily pill taking and im up to an 8 day spotting period. all my life ive been lucky to have short periods 3-4 days but not this time. if anyone else has any information please post!!

Im on the exact same thing...my period has been about 8 days, really light, no problems, but its usually 4 dayss long.

im also on the cilest pill and my periods have always been between 2-3 days but this month my period has been ongoing for 10days now and i have chronic pains in my stomach, i know this is gros but i also have like long pieces of skin like tissue coming out this month. im very scared please help.

the exact same thing happened to me !! im on the ortho Tri-cyclen lo pill and my period started a week early. it has lasted 7 days now and the flow hasnt decreased at all. my periods usually only last 3 days at the most. i had been missing taking the pill for a few days when it happened. do i need to go see my doctor, or should i wait for it to stop.? leading up to the period i had the worst cramps of my life, it hurt as bad as when i had my son! I considered going to the hospital, but the cramps come and go, so i decided to wait. i havent had the cramps since i started my period tho. my screen name on yahoo is if anyone can help me please

the same thing is currently happening to me...same pill except i just satrted maybe a week ago...haven't missed any but one day i was a few hours late taking it...my cycles are normally 3-4 days....it has lasted about a week and i currently am spotting...whats going on

I'm having a problem somewhat like that. I've been on birth control for 4 weeks, and I'm not supposed to have my period for a few months. But it's been going on for 11 days. I've never been lucky and had short, light periods, but never 11 days. I don't know why it's lasting so long or why I'm even having it. It's not spotting. I'm not sure what's wrong =

i took the same pill but that was two years ago since then I have my period for 5 MONTHS at a time birth control really screwed up my cycle now i dont even need the pill because i dont ovulate anymore

I'm on the Cilest pill and I've only been on it a week. My periods normally last 4-3 days 5 at the most, but this has been going on for 11 days and doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. It's really annoying me as I'm going away soon and wantto be able to go swimming. I have no idea what's going on I just want it to stop !! ):

Be careful with this because I had the same thing back in the late 90's come to find out I was pregnant in my tubes. I bleed about 2 months I was scared to tell my parents but I almost died because the baby was in my tubes. Anything over 10 days need to be checked out.
