The week of Christmas break I was on a seven day antibiotics but didn't end up finishing the last day. Two weeks following the end of taking them, I had unprotected sex twice using the pull out method seven days after my last period. My period is usually the same time every month but it's came a day early with a mixture of red and brown blood. There were also a few unusual clots which don't typically come the very first day for me. I've been religious on the pill for three years, and it's also the week of exams so could it be stress-related, pregnancy...am I ok? I'm looking for an answer that doesn't just tell me to go take a pregnancy test because that's a little out of the option at the moment and I'm just looking for some peace of mind. Long story short, am I pregnant or overreacting?

Honey, the ONLY for sure way right now would be a test...they are easy to get and some are rather inexpensive. It will not take long and you will have your answer and hopefully peace of mind! I am not sure of your situation and do realize that not all of us have it easy, so what may seem simple to me, may be impossible for you..so, I hope that you can obtain a test somehow and ease your mind! The later you wait, the harder it becomes! Good Luck!

I forgot to add that I am not sure if you were or were not aware that antibiotics can lessen the effects of bill control pills, and to use a back up method EACH time you have intercourse during the cycle month you took the antibiotics! And keep taking them as you should..unless your doc tells you differently..I hate to say this, but there are so many sperm cell in a drop of semen that when you use the pull out method, sperm is still introduced into the vagina from the pre-come a man has during his arousal state. Risky business honey!

Yes, I'm aware of what antibiotics do but I guess my mistake was thinking two weeks after finishing them I was fine. I've still been bleeding red and a little less brown and it seems normal now. I ended up getting a pregnancy test and took it this past Thursday morning, it came out negative though I'm still a little paranoid- probably just a mental thing. How accurate are the First Response HPT for this early?

Also, if a week after finishing the antibiotics I had my period and started a new pack..would this give me less of a chance of the pill being effected bad?

First Response is very accurate, it can detect the hcg hormone as soon as 6 days after conception...so with all you have stated and the recent negative test, I would not worry too much and keep up with your birth control and hopefully your cycle will come at it's normal time this time. If for ANY reason it doesn't..you really should see your doctor ASAP. Good Luck!
