About two and a half three weeks ago my boyfriend and I were having sex and the condom slipped off. I immediately decided to get the morning after pill and did so the next day so all in all it was probably about 15 hours after the "incident."

I took the pill and about a week later I experienced what I had thought to be my period. However, it was extremely light the first day in comparison with my regular flow and the color was not as deep red and was actually more of a purple/deep pink. Generally I can change a tampon every few hours when I first get my period but this time I didn't even fill a full one and the heavier flow lasted less than a day and was followed by brownish/pink blood and then stopped. Not sure if this was breakthrough bleeding or implantation bleeding.

In addition, my breasts, which generally are sore in the week leading up to my actual period are now extremely sore and enlarged (new stretch mark ugh) my nipples are hard and very pronounced, I'm extremely exhausted all the time regardless of how much sleep I have had and I have very faint nausea in the morning hours ( not sure if this is nerve induced).

I took a HPC and it was negative....but i'm not supposed to get my period for another 12 days.

I just wanted to know if this happened to anyone else and what the outcome is. I feel silly thinking I am pregnant but there is just something not right. Any advice or similar stories would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The plan B pill is highly effective but of course there is always a chance that you are pregnant. Women do not need to go for a routine follow-up physical exam after using Plan B. A visit for birth control is appropriate in many cases.

If a woman does become pregnant, it is more likely to be an ectopic pregnancy. Plan B doesn't cause ectopics per se. But since the uterus is not very receptive to the eggs that wind up there, by process of elimination, the tubal pregnancies become a higher percentage of the ones left. A woman should see a doctor right away if suspects she is pregnant, has pelvic pain, or any other concerns about her health.

Did you start getting these symptoms right after or a couple days after taking Plan B? If so, I think you should be okay. Since Plan B has a high dose of hormones, it can make you have a lot of random symptoms that are similar to a period. The first time I took Plan B, I freaked out because I started getting symptoms that made me think I was pregnant. My breasts became enlarged (I'm not sure if my nipples became as pronounced though--I can't remember) and I definitely felt A LOT more tired. No matter how much sleep I got, I continually fell asleep in all my classes. The symptoms lasted for maybe... a week or so? If you're spotting, that's supposed to be normal as well because Plan B can make you spot.

I know this is hard to do, but try your best not to worry. When you worry, you might make your period come late, which would freak you out more. Since you took the pill within 15 hours, it should be pretty effective. Is there any other weird symptoms you've been getting or just those? If it's just those, I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck~!

I took plan b 15 minutes before having sex. Is it still effective? Since it takes some time for the pill to dissolve and stuff?

I took plan b a week ago, and it has now been a week and a day since I took the pill and my breasts are sore. Is that normal?
