I think that if you're face is still breaking out months after taking plan b, something else is causing your acne. I don't doubt that your face will break out for a week or two after because of the amount of hormones you just put into your body ( much like birth control), but it won't continue to breakout unless you are continuing to take that much hormones.

I've always had mild acne but when I had to take plan b my face blew up with acne & I was soo sad. I tried everything, from dermatology to changing how I eat!! I eventually realized it was plan b that caused a hormone imbalance. What I'm about to tell you to get will save a lot of women's pretty faces. Estrogen!! I put my life & soul into this supplement. It is the only thing that will work. I promise. You can go into a natural food store & buy a bottle of pure estrogen if you ever take plan b or even if you have mild acne. (Acne comes from too much testosterone) it will balance your hormones out & therefore clear your acne up. Thank me later Xoxo

I have taken plan b once a month for 4 months and I have never had acne so bad in my entire life. Cyst like pimples all along my jaw line chin under my nose and upper neck. The entire bottom third of my face. I know it is from plan B. Stay away from it and avoid it if at all possible! It is awful!!! I think it will leave permanent damage on my face. I am 24 and have never had such bad acne in my entire life! I am not over exaggerating in the least bit either.

The same exact thing happened to me. I took Plan B and within the next few days my skin was insane. I had breakouts everywhere on my face. I thought that maybe it was stress induced because I was starting senior year of college. But I have never had breakouts this bad ever. And I've been stressed all throughout college, so I dismissed that idea. It's been a few months and I still have the breakouts. It's starting to really affect my mood and my confidence. Does anybody have any solutions? I feel like it's related to the hormonal imbalance. But how do I balance it out, and what medications should I take?

When you started the ortho tri cyclen did it help you? I'm starting it in a couple days from horrible cystic acne due to plan b, and I've tried detox, everything.. I start to think it's getting better then it just goes back to the same thing leaving me with hard bumps under skin, red painful acne, and then scars so I really hope it helped you..?

I took the pill on 11/25. 1 week later I had horrible, painful, cystic acne. Ice, aloe, TTO were my best friends. It is now 5 weeks later and the painful cystic bumps have decreased in number from my jawline area and I am now dealing with small lumps and bumps on my cheeks and forehead. I am taking B6 to help combat the ugliness that this pill makes you experience emotionally, mentally and physically. This is an awful medicine and should definitely be taken off the over the counter shelf unless the makers PRINT AND OWN these potential side effects. This pill has also increased moodiness, depression and makes it so easy to cry at the drop of a hat. I regret taking this every day and wish there was an undo button.

B6 might help you.... just another thing to try to rebalance your body.

Just wanted to update - its a week later since my last post and it just gets worse and worse. Would someone please provide insight as to when this will level out? The cysts are so painful.

Did you get an initial break out on spirolactone? Did it make your acne worse then make it better? I started 100mg of spiro 10 days ago while I started Trinessa BC 18 days ago. I have cysts on my chin and acne around my mouth and above my eyebrows! I just noticed after starting the spiro I have acne on my cheeks too. I am curious to see when I will see improvements. Thanks for your suggestion!

Spiro is an prescription drug you have to get from a doctor. I have been on for 14 days and haven't seen any improvement yet. I will keep you posted!

Ladies, this forum was the first thing I turned to when my porcelain smooth face became a bumpy, lumpy, disgusting mess. I was so scared that I started crying in the middle of class thinking I would have this for years after reading this forum. It's been a week since I took the pill and the side effects are 100% gone. All I did was calm down, try not to think about it, used an exfoliating brush and Claritin 12 hour acne wash (like I did everyday), and occasionally (EXTREMELY GENTLY) rubbed my face with a pumice rock, drank lots of water, and again JUST CALM DOWN. The point of this pill is to mess with you hormones so much that ovulation either stops or fertilization is hindered. Even though acne isn't listed as a "common side effect" it's extremely normal for the extreme imbalance of hormones to mess with your face. If you accept this and just calm down and do some or all of the things I listed up there, you should be fine after a week or so. Just give your body 1-2 weeks to adjust, it knows what it's doing to regulate everything it needs to.

I agree with the comment to calm down, first. I swear that Vitamin B6 helped. I started taking the Stress Complex Vitamin B. The emergency contraceptive pill depletes your body of Vitamin B. Your skin will get oiler, your breakouts will be painful - but they will subside in time. Anxiety is an awful enemy and can make you feel 10x worse. Try to know that there are a few of us out here that have taken this and have struggled through what you are experiencing, too.

Hang in there! Everything will be fine.

I took plan b one step on September 1 of 2014 and a couple days later had a break out and ended up having the worst acne of my life that lasted for 8months :( u know acne is mainly caused by imbalanced hormones and Im sure the pill was what caused it. Worst mistake I've ever made

Ok so i did the same thing. Long story short took a 3 plan b in a short period of time and my skin was destroyed. Cystic acne leaving bad scars. :( its been 14 months for me now so just over a year its gotten better but if i don't watch what i eat i still get painful cysts. Right now i am trying to adjust my hormones. After months of research i think all the plan b hormones are built up in my body and never left. So i read about doing coffee enemas.. i know gross but hey if it works its works. I will post my results in a week but i have read great things about coffee enemas balancing hormones. This is a horrible thing to deal with so i beg anyone please don't take this pill... use condoms and be safe. Synthetic hormones aren't something to play around with !!!!
