Wow. So glad I found this page. I see so many similar stories to mine here. I am now 68 yrs old and was always a tiny petite 5' female. I never had weight problems until I started the Prozac. I have been on Prozac now since 1993 and although it has worked well with me as far as my repetitive motions and some depression & moods, I have also gained so much weight that I'm more depressed than when I started! I weighed about 135 -140 when I started Prozac. I now weigh 185 and just won't come off! I bellydance, am a regular dancer on a local TV show and always am on the go and active. I have been to every kind of doctor, who over time have put me on female hormone therapy, thyroid, HGH, diets, Nutrisystems, etc. NOTHING works. I am so frustrated and angry. I don't eat very much and eat healthy so I get so upset when people say just eat less! I was taking 20 mg of Prozac every day and then went down to 10 mg in the last 2 months. I'm now thinking of just weaning myself off of it altogether to see if it will help me lose weight. I'm at the end of my rope. As far as seeing my doctor to help me wean me off, I dont' trust that. He's the one who got me on it in the first place, and doctors just keep the mantra going of "your menopausal, eating too much and not exercising enough".... ! THEY DON'T HELP! So, although I know it's not recommended to change your medications without your doctor's approval, I'm going to do it myself anyway! I just don't want to be dependent on pills the rest of my life and I'm sick of being fat!!
