Ouch!!!! I gave up drinking and that was hard. i gave up smoking and that was harder. I have been weaned off seroquel from 300 - 0 ZERO in four weeks. I used to take 700 and went down to 300 cause somehow i know this medication was really bad. I have been on it for 5 years. I get the itching palms - LOL but I am agitated, irritable, delusional, feel sick, headache, sweats, sleeping for more than 30 minutes, heart pulps and racing not possible.. not enough time to list the issues. Last night I hung over a bridge timing the trains so that when i jumped I had I a good chance of ending it all. Knowing my luck I would wake up with most of my bits missing. i didn't because I knew that all this was withdrawal.. They dont give you tranquilizers cause you may have problems getting off them.. What the F£"£k?? My whole experience of this medication is that the psychiatrists don't know how dangerous it is.. THIS MEDICATION SHOULD ONLY ONLY BE USED IF THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE - IF AT ALL!

I was on 700 mg seroquel and I was on mood stabilizers. I stopped everything cold turkey and I got sick. Ended up in the hospital because my stomach was inflamed. So painful. I lost 15 lbs in almost damn near a week. I ended up having a manic breakdown a couple months later and had no choice to go back on seroquel 100. A few people have pointed out that I look like I'm on drugs and I felt really self conscious so here I am day 2 without my seroquel. Let's just say I want to throw everything and temper tantrums from left to right. My stomach hurts I can't eat i.csnt sleep. I'm hyper one minute then the.rest of the day I cannot get out of bed.

Hi There

I have been off my seroquel a week today. I have been on it since the 14th Feb 2015. I started off on 175mg then down to half of that then 50mg then down to 25mg. I put on at least 10kg during the six month period of using it. I am not feeling too good right now headaches, body aches, rash and dizziness. Not sure how long these symptoms will last as i was only on it for 6 months. Please help

I am going to update my post. All I said was true. You have to expect when you come of any of these mind altering medications you are going to have a rough time but it will end. My time was particularly rough. It took me many months with alternative treatments to get as mentally well as I was on seroquel/quiteapine let alone move to where I wanted to get. Also, all the above symptoms that I was experiencing have completely gone. There was a time when I need this medication - it helped me so much. But then it became my enemy.

It is just so sad we have mental health issues and have to take any medication at all. Good luck to you all as I too continue my battle.

Two things friend, First, you would be glad to know I have lost more than a stone (maybe two) in three months after coming of seroquel without trying... Second being honest about the "how long" question, for me it took 2 weeks for most of them to go but I wasn't really clear for four weeks. There is one thing I have to say though, I think it is wise to replace it with something. It seems a very powerful drug and left a metal hole that still needed filling - it has been filled now and I feel a lot better. Hope that helps.

I couldn't even get my oil changed today because of the extreme pain, visual issues, and vomiting and flu like symptoms, itching, and sweating.

It entirely depends on your body, how long you have been taking it, and how high your dose was. It can take anywhere from four months to a full year to be completely rid of the withdrawal effects. They will slowly lessen, for a long time if anything strange is going on with you just look up Seroquel withdrawal and note that your symptom is on the list and try to remind yourself so it doesn't cause undue anxiety or stress. Knowing what is going on with your body will help you deal with it. Strangely, Benedryl seems to help many of the withdrawal symptoms, especially the itching. Additionally melatonin and Gasx/peppermint oil can help relieve a lot of the side effects of Seroquel withdrawal. Flexiril can help with the twitching and spasms. I'm going through my third time withdrawaling from Seroquel, this time I was up to 1200mg for about the last five or six years. I've been stepping down every two weeks for about four months. At first it isn't that bad but when you get to around half of your previous dose you will start to notice major withdrawal symptoms. I'm tapered down to 75mg right now and I feel like I'm going to die today, it's been one week since my last step down. It seems like two days after and seven days after lowering tend to be my worst days. Even though my body and mind are attacking me and I'm not getting enough sleep, I definitely notice much more clarity and drive than I had when I was a zombie because of the Seroquel. Rather than tossing and turning or watching tv all night do some research and really educate yourself on what is happening to you. A lot is happening and understanding that will make it easier to deal. Last time I came off it the withdrawal symptoms lasted about 8 months from the date of my last dose.
