Hello, I am 45 years old and I have been suffering from migraine for the past 6 months. It seems that I have got this problem along with the other menopausal symptoms. And a friend of mine tells me that the stroke risk is greater for the migraine sufferers. Is that really how it is?

I have heard that some doctors think that the migraine begins with the constant changing of the vasoconstriction and vasodilatation in the patient’s brain. This means that there might be some chance for the increased risk, and it is about two times higher than in people with no migraine. And also, some medications used for migraine might additionally increase that possibility.
