I am a 15 year old girl and i got on birth control to try and regulate my period bc it was very irregular well i tried 3 different pills and none of them worked so i tried a patch(ortho evra) and i was allergic to it and am now on no birth control. well while i was on the pill i became sexually active and everything was fine no bleeding or pain. now that im not on it ive had a little bit of bleeding the last 2 times ive had sex is this due to me not having enough estrogen or too much? bc ive read that could cause this problem. i dont feel that its anything serious bc its only happened the two times since i havent been on the pill. and i do use a condom even when i was on the pill. any ideas to what could be causing this?

Hi Bekah! Well stopping usage of birth control pills has several possible side effects, aside from the obvious effect that the woman will become much more fertile. Some of the side effects are simply the reversal of side effects caused by taking the pills in the first place. A possible positive side effect of stopping birth control is an increase in sex drive. Another side effect of stopping birth control is that periods are likely to become less predictable, so could the bleeding be actually your period? I haven't found bleeding as a side effect of stopping birth control. If the bleeding doesn't stop you should talk to your gynecologist. I hope that you would get well soon.
