I'm 22 year old female and I'm sexually active for about a year now. All this time it is with one boyfriend and I'm very satisfied with how are thing going. I'm just interested to find out one thing.
You see, few times I have experienced one very unpleasant thing- after and even during the intercourse I've suffered from something I could describe as real vaginal flatulence.
You can't imagine how embarrassed I was when it happened for the first time. Like I said, it has happened several times and I would like it to stop. Is there anything I could do?

Hello. I know how unpleasant this vaginal flatulence could be but you must understand that it doesn’t depend on you or to your partner. You are doing nothing wrong!
Flatus vaginalis is nothing more then simple expulsion of air from the vagina, often during or after sexual intercourse.
The air gets trapped in vagina because of penile penetration. Anyway, although it can't be avoided, there are some tricks for minimizing this phenomenon.
Kegel exercises can help in minimizing the frequency of this and also
woman should avoid sexual positions where she raises her hips and thighs.

I've had this problem also, it is embarrassing but it's common. It happens to a lot of women. I just ignore it and continue doing my thing. Most men know of this problem with women and it does not affect them, they know its not a real flatulence.

I realize that my husband knows that this is something that is air getting trapped in there but it is still very distracting during intercourse especially since it happens many times during intercourse and not just once because he likes to go sideways and put my legs up which I noticed is not recommended. Do the Ben Wah balls really help or is that hype and how do the kegels help since it is trapped air. I tried with all my might to tighten my muscles during intercourse to see if it made a difference and it made no difference at all.

This sometimes embarrassing little annoyance is called a "queef". There is not much you can do to avoid it. I notice if i am on top, sitting up, it doesn't happen much, but if we are in the missionary position, it really happens a lot. You can actually feel the air being released from your vagina. It doesn't bother either one of us because it just happens, and it's normal. We just carry on as if nothing happened. I used to laugh everytime it happened, but breaking out in big laughter during a romantic sexy moment is not a good idea, it is truly a buzz kill.
