I use a 1% HC cream on my face once a day, and a 2.5% HC cream on my left hand once, sometimes twice, a day. I use this to treat eczema/dermatitis, which is really bad on my left hand. I also use Nasonex nose spray once a day (Mometasone Furoate Monohydrate, which is also a corticosteriod).
I have been on the Nasonex for some time, at least 2 years, and began treatment with the creams for my face and hands back in December. My weight seems to have really gone up since beginning the treatment with the creams, and it's mostly around my abdomen that I put it on.
I have struggled with my weight before, and was able to lose over 140 pounds in 2005 over a 6 month period. I know that is really remarkable, and was really happy with the success I had. However, the things I did back then to lose the weight have had no effect thus far.
Is it possible for the corticosteroid creams and nose spray to be keeping me from losing weight? I am eating far less calories than my basal metabolic rate, and am active, yet I can't seem to lose weight. I may be overlooking something, but was wondering that about the corticosteroid medication I am on.
Thanks!
