Weight loss in old age is common and may be related to various diseases. I think some coronary diseases are related but also weight loss is common in Alzheimer disease and this has been documented in people who already have dementia.

Hi,
Well loss of weight in older people is not a good sign and people usually tend to get more weight as they are older. How much weight have you lost? Many changes in level of testosterone in the body maybe have negative effect on the weight. Women tend to see this effect after the menopause. Some studies have showed that weight loss can also indicate the onset of dementia. If you were overweight in middle age, losing weight later in life can be one of the first changes caused by the dementia. Usually dementia develops before you can notice any changes in your body and this is why this condition is hard to diagnose on time.
Good luck.
