Hello, my father is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. He has this condition for three years and now he is 68 years old. In the beginning there were no clear signs of this illness, we thought he has depression problems. And then, speaking problems and memory loss occurred. Will dementia cause my father to be mean and self absorbed?

Very often, first sign of Alzheimer is depression. Often, change of character occurs, they become more aggressive, they tend to get in the discussions and fights easily. This means that he can be mean and self absorbed, unfortunately. I am afraid you cannot do much about his health state; he can just use pills that will subdue the symptoms and nothing more.
