Hello. I'm 35 year old female. Two years ago I experienced very difficult birth because I was very skinny girlfriend and I carried twins.
The whole birth procedure lasted about four hours and I have several stitches on my perineal region.
After few weeks I recovered from this birth trauma very well but one problem occurred.
I started to suffer from strange vaginal bulging and the sensation of a mass in the vagina. I didn’t pay too much attention on it because I thought it was caused by my painful ovulation.
But also I started to feel pain during sexual intercourse with my husband. This has never occurred before.
So, I contacted my doctor again, and, after he examined me, he determine that I suffer from some condition called retocele.
What kind of condition this really is and what is possible treatment?

I can say only that I have heard of this problem before because my wife also had difficult birth and doctor mention this as possible complication of it.
A retocele is a sack of the front wall of the rectum which has protruded into the vagina.
Most retoceles occur in women where the front wall of the rectum is up against the back wall of the vagina.
This area is called the rectovaginal septum and sometimes it can even be so weak it can brake.
There are several risk factors to develop this kind of condition. You described your difficult birth-well that is most important risk factor of retocele.
Also, there are several types of retocele treatment. First is medical treatment that includes a diet high in fiber and 6 to 8 glasses of fluids each day.
This should soak up fluid so that less is removed as the stool travels around the colon.
If this don’t help than only surgery is only option.
