I was put on xanax yesterday for my anxiety. I started with 0.25mg 3x per day. I am interested in how long it takes for this drug to work and what the possible side effects may occur. Thx

Xanax usually starts working in the first days up till one week. The common side effects would be drowsiness or dizziness, depression and nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation, even headache. But there is also a risk of allergic reactions, sores in the mouth, yellowing of the skin or eyes. These you should report to your doctor. I would also like o advice you not to take another medications with this drug as they may influence one another. Also, avoid alcohol. I made that mistake once and nearly fainted.
