Hi, I have been taking yaz for a year now. Almost two months ago I started to feel the same way, started to question my feelings towards my husband, which I know I adore with all my heart. I stopped talking the pill a month and a half ago, but this is killing me. I feel anxious all the time, feel a lot of preasure in my back, bc I am doubting what I feel abt him. I am very depressed and all I want is stay in my bed and be away from everything and everybody. I am not eating at all. I really think I am loosing my mind. How r you feeling now? Did u get back to normal?

I'm sooo sorry you're feeling this way and going through this. That's why I still try to post on these sites once in awhile. No, I'm not feeling ANY better and it's been 5 years for me. Bayer the makers of Yaz and the FDA are aware this happens to women even AFTER stopping the medication! I'm guessing.... just guessing, but after a month and a half the Yaz should probably be out of your system by now. Maybe let your husband whats going on if haven't already and tell him it's an actual side affect of Yaz. I still have no idea what makes it permanant and I don't think anyone else knows either. It seemed to have just adjusted or changed something in me that I can't get back. Anyways my situation was EXTREMELY sudden being on it only 7 days and very severe having to be hospitalized a week later so it was quite obvious to me and my husband that Yaz caused it. But when it didn't go away, ....we still believed but it wasn't until a year or so later that my friend found a site w/ women complaining of similar symptoms that we knew we had to do more. There's a wonderful site called

that a women I met on this journey started. It has both + and - stories on it. It will give you some insight. But it sounds like you should see a Dr. about possibly getting some anti-depressants. I imagine you don't want to anymore than I did. I HATED IT!!!!! But please take care of yourself before anything, and let your husband know what's going on so he can deal with it and help you. Keep me updated.

How long have you been off of it now? Some women don't get permant side effects. But some, like me do. Are you feeling better all the time? I remember at first when I would feel better for several hours or some days weren't as bad as the day before we thought I was getting better, but I was really just not as depressed as anxious as I was when it was bad. If that makes any sense to you? Sometimes from all these blogs or whatever that I read I think a lot more women have permant side effects than we're aware of. I think some of just don't blog again, or think if the symptoms persist then they weren't actually caused by Yaz. But trust me studies have been done and Bayer and the FDA know that Yaz causes this, so if your symptoms don't go away in a reasonable amount of time you should see someone cuz they probably won't be going away:( How long have you had the panic attacks....? Did you check with your doc to see how long they felt it should take for the yaz to get out of your system? I hope you get good answers:) I just want to help in case you don't. Let me know how things are going.

Last year I was on the BC pill Brevinor and was quite severely anxious and moderately depressed. I was even seeing a therapist towards the end of the year and had no idea why as I had no real reason to be feeling like this. I went off the pill and noticed a HUGE change in my mood and got back to my normal self. However I gained wait and developed much worse skin than normal so last week I went to the doctor to talk to her about a new pill, telling her i could not risk another episode of depression. She told me that Yaz was great for both skin and mood and so this sounded really ideal for me and I thought I would give it a go. Four days later and I've been feeling extremely down and have been unmotivated to go to university or the gym etc, things I was very enthusiastic about a few weeks ago. I'm feeling extremely bored with my life all of a sudden even though it's been the most exciting it's ever been lately.  I've also completely lost my appetite, am feeling extremely bloated and I think I have developed a yeast infection. I decided to look up some reviews and have found that all the websites say this is the worst one for depression. I'm so glad I am now aware of the connection and was able to catch it quickly thanks to this thread. I will be going back to the doctor - but only to give her an earful and then find a new one. Binning the rest of the packet immediately. Absolutely gutted!!

GOOD FOR YOU!!! How awesome that you noticed so quickly how it was affecting you and took action. That rocks! The only reason I did is because I truly lost my mind. And alot of other women still feel they have to finish the pack or even try all 3 months. Way to go! And Good Luck! Kristine

What's going on? A year is a long time to not feel right, have you seen a doctor or taken any medicine? I've been off of Yaz for 5 years now and am still ill. Some other women have had long term damage too. If you let me know what it that's happening I can send you to where you need to be for support and I'm not sure maybe legal help. Let me know and I'll e-mail you back.

Dear Posters,

I cannot tell you how your posts helped me diagnose my 6-month-running depression-like feeling. I have exactly the same symptoms since I started on Yazz and I was just feeling guilty about it until I realized it's the side effect of the pills. It's both a relief and a reason to be mad at my doctor for not warning me about this.

Thank you all for sharing!

reading all of these posts made me feel two different things:

1. relieved knowing I am not the only one in the world feeling this, and immediately after-

2. VERY UPSET! Are there ANY doctors reading all of this??? I mean there are posts from TWO years ago!! How is it possible that in a first world country they decide to give women all these hormones without even doing a background check on our hormone levels! Do you realize we are being treated as lab rats?? they are just experimenting on us!!!

yeah, i'm on Yaz right now... which may explain my evident mood swings.

Is there anybody out there who can let the rest of us know how did you feel after dropping the Yaz pill?? Any better??

I had the exact same feelings after being on it for 5 months. I stopped taking it 3 months ago, and unfortunately, I don't feel much better. The moodiness is mostly gone, but I still feel depressed and I still question my relationship a lot (even though I have an amazing boyfriend). Hopefully, you will start to feel better, but I don't. I am hoping I start feeling like myself again soon. It is supposed to take 3 months to get out of your system. Good luck

did you ever start to feel better?

Listen up Every Body!!!!!! you want to feel better?? Get your lives Back?? Smoke some Cannabis... say no to drugs just smoke bud.

Oh my gosh.  These comments make me feel so much better.  I have been taking Yaz for about 5 months now, and last month I had my very first ever panic attack.  Since then I have had anxiety attacks and I feel like I'm going crazy! I don't even recognize myself.  It's not like me at all- my whole life everyone comments on how easygoing I am.  I can get stressed like anyone else, but typically things just don't get under my skin... or if they do it doesn't last.

This month I feel like it's almost a daily struggle to keep my anxiety under control.  I'm worried about being able to care for my two little girls because I never know when anxiety is going to hit.

I kept wondering if the birth control was to blame, but read the packet of side effects and didn't see anxiety listed.  It's good to know others have experienced anxiety with Yaz.  I'm calling my doctor on Monday to switch birth control.

Crossed fingers that I go back to normal soon :)

I can't believe anxiety/depression is not listed as a side effect when obviously many women have experienced it while taking Yaz.
