I have a 21 year old that is currently on Wellbutrin for depression & is on Adderal for tested & confirmed adult ADD. She has been told by her doctor that she can take up to 4 of her prescribed 20mg tablets per day AS NEEDED for studying/getting things done. As this is a narcotic, I'm concerned. She has been taking Adderal in this way for some time now. Recently, her hair has started to break off & fall out. We have told her it is from the combination of her meds & all the stress associated with being a college junior and that it will have to run its course. But, upon talking to a beautician that has been ADHD all his life, he was very concerned that my child was up to 4 pills a day! He said that could affect her kidneys and possibly cause a heart attack! Also, he mentioned that her body can never regulate itself as each days dose of Adderal is different and could possibly affect her dose of Wellbutrin! He said he took Adderal for a time, but that it made him edgy and easily aggatated, symptoms I see in my child. He said he takes a larger dose of Conserta once each day in the am & that he has had much better luck with it. He does not, however, take any depression medicine too. I'd like to know what your overall opinion of this is since we see the doctor tomorrow and what you think about up to 4 Adderal a day. Also, are you a doctor? Thanks much!
