Hi, folks. My nephew was experiencing some ear problems, so he went to a doctor. It appears he has acute otitis. I would like to know what kind of treatment here is needed. Are antibiotics required here? I will appreciate all your replies considering this. I hope answering my post won’t bother you much.

Hi, there. It all depends which part of the ear is affected. But in most cases of acute otitis, antibiotics are required. Middle ear infections are relatively common. They are also tough for treatment. Antibiotics here are given orally or intramuscularly. The treatment can last for 3 to 4 weeks. If a person is experiencing some severe pain, painkillers are prescribed. I hope this helps. Bye!
