AVM, Arteriovenous Malformation, is usually considered to be congenital, you were born with it.

Hey Bill, just noticed your post of nine months ago. "They" say I have COPD and suffer from blood clots on/in my lungs. I too was in Viet Nam and watched as the planes dropped Agent Orange on me and everything/one around me. It seems like I have just the opposite problem of you - my blood clots where yours runs too much. I wonder too if this has anything to do with Agent Orange. I have found where the VA will currently only cover 15 ailiments related to Agent Orange. Apparently it takes and act of Congress (I am not making a joke) to have the VA cover anything related to Agent Orange and we all know how fast Congress moves....unless they are personally suffering. So, maybe if a whole lot of us Vets can somehow come together and let Congress know what is going on with us something will be done.

Can anyone help me? To briefly describe the consequences of having arteriovenous anastomoses on the circulatory system, within the liver, kidneys, and lungs?

I am a Vietnam vet 66-67 with 1st Cav. I have been diagnosed with AVM in the brain. No family history. Have had heart attack, diabetes, sleep apnea, digestive disorders, growths under both feet, etc. all from agent orange. I would like to know how many Vietnam vets have AVM. Sincerely, H. P.

I am a daughter of a man who served in Vietnam.... who I believe was exposed to agent orange.... he too has suffered COPD..... I was born with an AVM malformation that burst when I was a young child... I had to have three brain surgeries. I am wondering if my AVM could have had anything to do with his exposure to the chemicals in Vietnam??? Does anyone have any information on this topic??

As I write this it's Feb 2023. I am 55 years old and my father was in the Navy, in and around Viet Nam from 1962-1969. He died in 2014 after struggling for 20 years with COPD, strokes, diabetes, blindness, and more. I was born with AVM nidus in my left shoulder, neck, chest and arm. I've had 14 surgeries to try to stop the advancing veins and arteries. More slated for this year as it still appears to be growing. It's not a coincidence that soany folks my age have this very rare condition.

My wife's father served in Vietnam and was definitely exposed to Agent Orange. He passed 2 weeks ago from bladder cancer. They have no family history of AVM's. My wife had one in her brain diagnosed 20 years ago and has been through radiation, surgeries, and 2 strokes.
