I have been going through the same thing as everyone else. And it's almost comforting to know others are feeling the same way. However, I wish someone posted a follow up to their post so we knew what the outcome was. I had unprotected sex (no ejaculation) with my boyfriend and realized after the fact that I was most likely ovulating. I took Plan B within 24 hrs. The next day, up until now, my breasts have been extremely sore to the touch. I have been reading up on all different kind of symptoms of pregnancy and am not sure if i'm causing some them out of paranoia or not! But i'm due to get my period June 27. I am going to wait until then and hope that it comes. If anyone has an outcome to their story, can you post it? I will be sure to do the same. Good luck everyone!

ive experienced the very same breast tenderness since using plan b... i used it at the first few beginning months of this year... 3 months in a row and since march they have been hurting me.. ive been to my gp and she told me that it may have occured de to messed up hormones because of the pill.. but it is very worrying although the gp thinks it nothing 2 worry about. she booked me in with the breast clinic anyway jus to have a second opinion and im awaiting an appointment. however its taken a while i assume thats becos they dnt regard my case as very serious.

Well ladies - looks like we're all in the same boat. I did a little research on how to best relieve the 'pregnancy symptoms' of PlanB, and am happy to say that with one acupuncture treatment and some chinese herbs (prescribed by the acupuncturist, not off the shelf) I'm feeling a world better! There is something about how the hormones in the pill work that confuse your body, and the chinese medicine helps to unconfuse it. Another thing she recommended to help is to avoid "hot" foods (chilis, spices, chicken, meat, coffee, smoking anything illegal) and to intake more "cooling" foods (cantaloupe, watermelon, watermelon juice, coconut water)
I took PlanB about 2 weeks ago, less than 24 hours after the "incident," which happened about a day after ovulation. Was breast tender and a little bit manic in my mood. Got the acupuncture treatment a few days after that, and it helped a lot. Also light exercise has seemed to be helpful - I have this little trampoline I bounce on lightly in the morning (ahem, with arms crossed over my chest to help with all that!) and it's like instant pain relief after about 4 or 5 minutes. Got my cycle a day or two early and it was hot and dark brown. No baby though :-)
These pills are serious stuff. It's good that they're out there (I'm glad!!!) but I found out they are definitely an emergency measure & you should NOT take them frequently at all. Now that I'm in a relationship where I really feel good about intimacy, I'm definitely looking for a more long-term contraceptive option. Good luck everyone.

I am glad to hear that others are having the same experience. It was my first time ever using anything like plan B---maybe 4? weeks ago. My nipples were also hard for about 2 weeks, not as much now, but I am still having breast soreness and swelling. I have been worried about being pregnant, too. If we are all having the same symptoms, I really hope it means these are "normal" side effects. Wish I knew before hard! Thanks for sharing, guys!

Here is some info on my experience so far with taking plan b one step. I am 30 years old and had unprotected sex three days after period. Took plan b 14 hours later. I had some bleeding about 4-5 days later but just for one day and it was very heavy. After that I felt weird, tired, and constipated. two weeks after taking plan b i had really sore breasts and a very sore back. 18 days after taking it I had some bleeding/spotting - real red for that day and headaches for two days. today is 20 days after taking plan b and I have three negative home preg tests, no more back pain or breast tenderness. am I safe/not pregnant? I think I should get my period any day now if I am as regular as I think I am.
just wanted to share as many details as possible since I have been reading these sites to keep from not going crazy.

Hi there, when you take Plan B your period goes crazy, which sucks because it's very hard to tell what's going on but it does mean that it's working. If you have a pregnancy test, it's a good idea to do one just to put your mind at ease. What do you think?

I am in the exact same predicament. I had unprotected sex with my BF, and although he didn't ejaculate I wanted to be on the safe side so I took a plan B pill about 48 hrs later. My period is usually in the beginning of the month. I took the Plan B pill around 19th, About a week later I got what seemed like my period (which would have made it twice that month) but I figured it was just the Plan B throwing my cycle out of wack. It has been a little over a month and now my breasts are sore, specially my nipples, and it seemed that they were always hard about a week ago, now it is slowly starting to go away. They are still tender though, and i have noticed that the ducts on my nipples have "opened"... is it likely that i'm pregnant? I've really been worrying about this lately.

Ladies, please don't be overly concerned or worry as that can mess up your cycle as well. The morning after pill is a high dose Progestin only pill which is the same hormone produced by a pregnancy so of course it will cause similar symptoms as pregnancy. If you have bleeding after wards it is a sign that you are most definitely not pregnant and is normal for you to have bleeding usually within a week after taking the pill. Just as with any birth control pill after you stop taking the pill your period will start, which is how it keeps irregular women regular. It is a high dose of progestin which does have the possibility to cause certain female cancers and should not be used as a regular choice to control pregnancy. If you are sexually active you need to use a regular form of birth control. Aside from the occasional mess up with a condom failure you shouldn't be taking the morning after pill. Please consider regular birth control pills. If unable to take them and condoms are your choice you may want to consider a second form of birth control like the sponge. When used correctly it is a wonderful form of birth control.

I have the same tenderness in only one breast! it's been 2-3 weeks after taking the Plan B pill, and i'm bloated, a little nauseated and sore. I don't think i'm pregnant because my boyfriend didn't ejaculate and i haven't had sex since the incident. Looks like we are ALL in the same position...so this has to be side effects from the pill, and we're NOT pregnant.

So Glad I found this!
Took a plan B on October 5th. . . I did have a period starting on the 11th then had sex on the 18th and no plan b after. I did have some Spotting on the 23rd and 24th.
I have been feeling so sick, cramping like crazy, I am so tired, and have gained 10 lbs! When will I get back to normal. My period according to the last time I started should be on Nov 7th. This morning I woke up feeling like I got hit by a bus and my boobs are so sore.
Could I have gotten preggo having sex 8 days after my period?

Well..... I hate to say it, but I am relived to hear that I am not the only one going through this. I had sex approx. 1 week after my period. I took Plan B less than 24hrs after. I was feeling a little nausea about a week later and had cramps and lite spotting. Now its been about 2 weeks and my breasts look and feel as if the are going to explode! I have never had this kind of swelling before. Judging from the earlier posts, I think its safe to say that we are all in the same boat and perhaps this is just a side effect of the pill. We ALL cant be pregnant... even though we all have terrible breast tenderness and swelling.

It is comforting to read that I'm not the only one. I am going through weirdo Plan-B effects now.
I took the plan-b pill shortly after coming off my period. My sister who is a cycle guru said I wasn't fertile at the time, but better safe than sorry - I bought the pill. I took it as directed in under 24 hours of unprotected sex.
Afterward I felt no different - was happy with my decision. Although I am unable to take birth control, I figured that one time would be fine.
I had no bleeding, nothing. Between 15-20 days after taking plan-b, I started feeling super nauseous, fatigued, with very sore and swollen breasts. I felt pregnant. I am 32 with two children and this is feeling just like my last pregnancy - I had/am having morning sickness in the evening , and I was/am super sensitive to all smells, along with the other symptoms I mentioned above.
A few days ago I was doing some final shopping and in the middle of the store I started cramping, but it felt like my bowls or something, like an urgent need to relieve myself. I had to bear it while waiting in line to pay it was extreme. Almost to my car, I felt a gush, almost like I had wet myself. It was blood & lots of it. It felt as though there was something in my birth canal and but sitting with my legs together I was holding it it. I called home and my sweetie had a bath waiting. I came in and undressed still bleeding - then suddenly I passed two really big clots that looked like liver. It was the strangest sensation. After my bath, the bleeding completely stopped and I have had nothing more for two days. Thank goodness I got through Christmas.
I do not feel that what ever is going on is complete. It seems to me like a miscarriage.
My very wise Mother has been telling me that I just got a super does of birth control and that my hormones are just out of whack. She says even the clotting and stuff could be all hormonal.
My period would have been late around December 15th. I have read that it's normal for plan-b to cause your period to be two weeks late.
After the bleeding, I haven't felt so much of the pregnancy like symptoms - so I don't know. I do know that Plan-B will mess you up and should be used with care.

I went through the same thing. I had protected sex, but when my partner and I were finished, the condom fell off so I was afraid I might run this risk of being pregnant! The next day I went and got Plan B and within a week I started my period. This is not the first time I have used Plan B and every time in the past that I had used it, it was right before my expected period and so my period would always come when it was suppose to. This time I began my period practically two weeks earlier than expected because of having to take Plan B. After my period was finished I thought I was in the clear, but then my breasts began getting tender, which gave me cause for concern and I started to wonder if I might be pregnant. Tender breasts were the only symptom of pregnancy I had however, and that is also an extremely common symptom I have when I am pms-ing. I just wanted to post this note to inform some of you women that I DID get my period, today actually! Which is only a couple of days after when I should have originally got my period. So fret not if you were safe and/or took the necessary precautions afterward, I'm sure you will be fine. But if you are late for your next period, or just can't handle the suspense, I suggest going getting a pregnancy test, or going to a clinic for help, they are very nice and respectful. I was contemplating going to the clinic, also, another tip is to confide in your friends, they are great support! I hope this was helpful to you all and good luck!
