OK... So, I've been going crazy the last two weeks and haven't really been able to find anyone's situation helpful so I'm going to post my story, and come back to tell everyone what happpened.

SO, on april 26 I had protected sex with my boyfriend. (it was our first time as a couple).  I was unnecessarily paranoid so the next morning, I took plan B at my local clinic.  Although I shouldnt have anything to worry about in the first place, I got my period on time on May 3.  NOW, here is the weird part.  I didnt get my period again until June 20! Which was almost exactly 2 weeks late ( let me add, my period is like clockwork with a 30 day cycle).  That was the first time I had ever taken plan b and didnt experience any side effects at all, except for my next period being late.  Now here comes the stupidity of my situation.... On July 10, we had unprotected sex but he did pull out.  Now, I usually am pretty good about tracking my cycle but because of my eariler situation in april/may/june, I honestly have NO idea if I was ovulating or not.  Now it is July 27, and I have not had any period, spotting, NOTHING.  What I have had is mild cramp and VERY tender breasts/nipples.  If I go by last month's period, I am officially a week late today, but since my cycle was two weeks late last month, I don't really know what to think.  In all of my nervous glory, I DID take a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative (although if I'm not even technically late for my period it wouldn't matter).  But taking it yesterday was only 16 days after the unprotected sex so even that is early.  I have read that breast tenderness is a side effect of plan b but i HAVE been pregnant before and I didn't experience breast tenderness at all during my pregnany so I am just nervous/worried/confused.  I don't feel bloated or sick at all, but the breast thing is freaking me out because I've never had breast pain in my LIFE... I'm thinking maybe that because I took the pill twice in 4 months, it is just completely messing up my cycle/symptoms but I'll continue to be nervous until I find out for sure... I should add that I took plan b within 12 hours of sex BOTH times, so for my "after effects" to be so different is making me feel even worse.  Anyways, this is what I am going to do.  I am going to wait until the end of the week and if I don't get my period, I will take another test on sunday because that would be the 21 days after the act that would give me a better and mroe accurate reading.  If that still says negative ( which i am praying it does ) and I don't get my period, I am going to make a doctors appointment for next week for a blood test.  I know my example was long, but for anyone going through what I'm going through right now, I hope it helps.  I will definitely be coming back to post what happens with me because although I'm finding many stories similar to mine, I am finding very few follow ups.  In addition, if anyone has an insight or similar experience, let me know.  Good luck ladies!

Ok, so this is "stupid" lol... I am extremely happy to report that I finally got my period (2 1/2 weeks late) on Sunday August, 7.  My breast tenderness disappeared almost immediately and my period lasted a full week.  I am still going to my doctor's appointment today for further reassurance but all the worrying seemed to be for nothing.  The longer term side effects of plan b were much more intense than I had imagined (including it completely messing up my cycle).  Although I think the side effects are different with everyone, I was ABOSLUTELY convinced I was pregnant, with how I was feeling.  So, after wasted $$ on about 5 HPT(I know, crazy).... My only advice to anyone else going through this is to wait it out at least the 19-21 days, take ONE test and make a doctors appt if necessary.  I think stressing out over this so intensely also made my period late too.  But with this being my second experience with Plan B, the first time having NO SIDE EFFECTS and the second time extreme side effects, I think the effects of it are pretty much unpredictable.  Although, I am convinced that if taken within the 12 hours after unprotected sex, in my personal experience, it has worked... So I hope I helped anyone going through the same thing.

Hey Guys,
Okay my story is I had unprotected sex a few days after my period ended. I took the morning after pill within 42 hours. I have taken the pill in the past without many symptoms. This time I did not have any symptoms right away. About 1 week after taking the pill my breasts began to get tender and sore (I was 1 week away from my period). I usually get breast tenderness before a period but this time it is different. As the week progresses my breast pain is getting worse and my nipples are always hard and sore.  I am very worried that I pregnant. I have been pregnant before and experienced breast tenderness/hard nipples but not until 5 weeks or so into pregnancy. I am waiting to see if I get my period tomorrow. If not I will take a test on Tuesday and report back here about the results.

So I was supposed to get my period today but did not. I took a pregnancy test and fortunately it says negative!!!! If I don't get my period this week, I will take another test next week.

My question is relevant to this! Two weeks ago on a Friday, I had sex with my boyfriend. The condom broke but he only had a little bit of precum on his penis because we had barely started. I took Plan B immediately (about 3 hours after) just in case and I took the second dose the day after that. I got my period the next Friday, a week before my normal period usually starts. Since it was very light, we decided to have sex. I gave him a blowjob before putting the condom on. However, I put it on the wrong way and flipped it back to the correct way. Paranoid I got precum on the condom, I gave him another quick blowjob. After I finished with that, I made sure the condom was dry, just in case.. My period was normally after that. It lasted for about 5 days. Usually my breast hurt BEFORE my period. However, they did not hurt this time. After my period ended, my breasts started hurting. Is it possible that I am pregnant or is it just the Plan B messing up my hormones? I'm really paranoid and I'll go get a pregnancy test soon..

I took Next Choice on November 1st. I had what I thought was a period *crosses fingers* and felt fine up until a few days ago. Now I have sore boobs, hard/painful nipples and I feel bloated as hell. I took the pills over 2 freakin' weeks ago. What gives?

I took Plan b 36 hours after realizing I had been drugged. I have fatigue, back pain, and breast tenderness. It's really bad. My expected period is late and the pregnacy test is negative so far. I'm terrified and traumatized because I don't know what happened to me. Thank you for your reply and support.

Hi, I stumbled upon this thread worried that I was pregnant also. I had sex and I wasn't on birth control at the time. The condom slipped off and was literally inside of me for about ten minutes before I got it out. Although my partner did not ejaculate inside of me I was worried about precum that may have been in the condom (because it is more potent with sperm cells) I took the Plan B pill about 30 minutes later. After about a week my breasts became extremely tender! I got a short five day period so I was worried it was implantation bleeding and I had slight cramping. On top of that I became extremely bloated and gained weight. I would get the feeling of fullness and I was very fatigued. I was even a bit irritable. I was worried for about two months but my periods came on time and I took a pregnancy test, and I am not pregnant. Sorry this is such a long response but what I'm trying to say is the Plan B pill is a strong birth control pill with a very high dose of synthetic progesterone which is only naturally produced by pregnant woman. With this being said taking the Plan B pill will give you symptoms that match that of a pregnant woman's to the tee! For a pill that is supposed to make you feel better it sure did worry me even more. But I hope this made you feel better. Take the test after a month just in case though, you wouldn't want any surprises.

i took Plan B one step over a month ago on the 26th of Nov, within 2-4 hours after i may have gotten sperm on my vagina. i found out later that it i may have been ovulating at the time, but i wasn't sure.

i had some breast tenderness a week later for a few days. i got my period early on the 7th-12th, the bleeding was lighter than normal, and there was definitely clotting, and i had some spotting the day before and two days after, which rarely happens to me. i usually get my period towards the middle of the month, on the as early as the 12th or as late as the 18th.

i had some bloating and i was still fairly paranoid so I took a pregnancy test that week, probably in the 14th or the 15th, about two weeks after. it came out negative. my breasts are feeling a little tender again, which made me worry, so i searched about it. i really don't think i'm pregnant, since i took plan b so fast and there probably wasn't a huuge chance of me getting pregnant in the first place, and also that negative on the pregnancy test. plan b may have just changed my menstruation cycle, and i may be feeling symptoms of PMS. to top everything off, i have a cold so i've been having very mild headaches. i'm feeling pretty exhausted as well, but i think it's just that my sleep cycle got so thrown off over the past month and the cold i've had. i also had some mild pains in my abdomen and pelvic area, but very mild and fleeting.

I'm waiting for my next period now. i'm not sure when it will be, but i'm assuming it could come as soon as Jan 7th or as late as the 18th. this past month has been incredibly stressful, not just with this situation.

Like the others said, if you took plan b within the first 72 hours, you are probably not pregnant. i saw on WEBMD (I think) that within the first 72 hours, emergency contraception is 89% effective and within the first 25 hours it's 95% effective.

Wait til two weeks after you took plan b and take a HPT or just go to your doctor. The two week wait will suck, but stick it out. any earlier and your results probably won't be truthful. take it too soon after plan b and i heard that the hormones could give you a false positive or you could get a false negative simply because it's too early to tell if you're pregnant. make sure to read the directions of an hpt, too.

try not to stress out too much, you could delay your period even further, or be like me, and still be paranoid about being pregnant even AFTER getting a period. this gave me a huge headache.

EVERYONE WHO IS FREAKING OUT:

here is what I have experienced with PLAN B/etc:

Brest tenderness... you think you are pregnant... but you are NOT (we hope)
EARLY period
LIGHT period

SO then you spend a whole month after this period FREAKING OUT waiting for the next one thinking you MIGHT be pregnant cuz your breasts are sore.... and MAYBE that wasn't really your period you think, what if it was SPOTTING because you are pregnant?! You worry.....

WELL..... STOP WORRYING AND STRESSING (the way that I did at least 2 or 3 times after taking Plan B)

MOST LIKELY, it's just the Plan B messing with your hormones...

PREGNANCY TESTS DON'T WORK, if you are TOO early your body won't tell the test you are pregnant, so you are wasting your time and money.

This is what you can do: wait ONE MONTH

and then take the pregnancy test.... if you don't get your period (again)

that is really ALL you can do.....

and NO MATTER what you read, like this, you are STILL going to freak out and worry, I just know it.

But yeah, I hope this helps!!!

AGAIN: MOST LIKELY, it's just the Plan B messing with your hormones... you are NOT pregnant, yay!!! we hope!!

A lot of girls think they are pregnant when they are not after taking plan B....

SO GOOD LUCK!! and find a FREE ovulation calendar online ...it lets you know when you are more and less likely to get pregnant...approx.... so check that out and be safer...

TONS of people don't use condoms, like NO ONE it seems, so maybe if you are not, you should start cuz those boys are prolly being exposed to STDs at some point...

BE MORE CAREFUL.... use stupid birth control it's FREE at planned parenthood... the pills and stufff ......

you do NOT want to have to get an abortion, TRUST ME.... and you are prob not ready for a kid

so in the future, try to PLAN OUT sex weeks before it happens and stuffffffff....

okay good luck everyone and don't stress and don't worry, you will be okay <3

ALSO, I know 4 guys with AIDS ...... so be careful about that too.   Oh and two girls with herpes .... this stuff is REAL and your friends have it, they just don't tell you .......

I hope everyone is going to be super safe from now on :)  You dont wanna have to worry like this again........

I found this forum because I am having the same symptoms.  I have noticed many of us experience hormonal issues 1.5 to 2 weeks after taking the pill, and then get very nervous and scared.  I am going into my third week now.  My breasts are very sore, and I have two negative tests.  I will take another test in the few weeks though.  I hate going through this, but this is what I have been thinking...

I read the packaging that came with the pill, and it said the hormonal effects would last between 2 to 4 days... bs, sorry, but it's just bs

I called PP and they said the hormonal affects of the pill should only last 1 week...  whatever, very not true.

I am starting to think that because Plan B is a new bc method, a lot of information and first hand accounts are not widely available or common knowledge yet.  I am not sure, but that's just what I am starting to think.  Also, we are all doing a great thing sharing these experiences, because we are helping others and pointing out FAQS, concerns, and putting out valuable information about side effects and personal concerns.  All of us are not imagining these symptoms, so obviously the manufacturers and the places distributing the pill are not very helpful or capable of assisting us.  We are all in the same boat, and wish you all the best.
