I am in the same boat- switching from Celexa to Wellbutrin I'm having "brain zaps" (momentary dizziness) every 20 seconds or so, and in general feel a bit nauseous and unsteady... I was taking Celexa for the past almost 10 years, and most recently at a 40mg/day dose- it just wasn't effective anymore to control my depression or anxiety, so switching was crucial for me, and with taking Celexa for so long I expected side effects but this is very very distracting and uncomfortable.

If anyone can reply with any way to alleviate the brain zaps/dizziness that'd be so helpful. I'll be calling my doctor regardless, but I have a feeling I'll just hear, "you need to just wait it out and eventually they'll subside" and ya know what? I don't really want to just do that :)

I switched from Celexa (40mg) to Wellbutrin (150SR twice a day), and have been on just the Wellbutrin for 2 weeks now. I feel horrible most of the time, and just have momentary (and I mean momentary) little flashes of productiveness and well-being. I was on Celexa for just over 3 years and gained about 30lbs during that time. I only took two weeks to wean from Celexa (while starting Wellbutrin at the same time) so maybe I weaned too quickly, but there are several times through the day when I actually feel suicidal. Not sure what to do at this point because I don't want to give it up right before it starts working or anything. I also don't want to have to go through the weaning process with another drug just yet. Help!

I'm on day six of my switch from 20mg celexa for a year to 300mg Wellbutrin and I've never felt so shitty in my life. Basically everything else is complaining about. The dizziness the robot feeling lethargic brain zaps numb feeling anxiety. I gained 30lbs in a year as well. I don't want to stop but idk what to do because I hear I'll feel better in a few weeks. I'm thinking of asking my doc to switch me to 150mg. ALERT!!!! DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. I've never tried committing suicide but I got wasted a few nights ago and wrote the suicide note, belt around my neck, saved by my sister texting me at 1:36 am thinking about me. I was drinking beer nightly the first 4 days and that was a HUGE mistake. I suffer from chronic back pain I'm only 32 which makes this depression stuff even worse. I take a laundry list of meds and I feel like I'm 55 with my 6 pill bottles etc. anyway any advice would be good.

Hi! I also was on celexa and am currently switching to wellbutrine. I was on 20mgs of celexa for about 3 months and my dr. had me take 10mgs for one week before switching. I have now been on 150mgs of Wellbutrin/day for 5 days. My biggest side effect is dizziness and irritability. I had a melt down two days ago and was really taken back by it at surprised at myself. I was so embarrassed by it and was really disappointed in myself (still am) but after reading these posts on here I realize that my meltdown was likely due to the Wellbutrin :/ it doesn't help that mom is in town visiting us and driving me nuts! Lol. Anyway, I HOPE this stabizes out soon and works well for me. Good luck to all of you!

He says I must start up my celexa again but just every 3 days or so. I pray to God it gets better because for now I am feeling horrible!!!

my Dr. switched me from citalopram 40 mg to wellbutrin 150 mg twice daily and I feel awful. I know its just been a few days but I fell so nauseous and dizzy. I am going to stick it out because citalopram was not working for me.

Wow I'm so glad to read there are others having the same problem (I mean that in a good way,lol)s...and I learned a new term - "brain zaps". That's exactly what they are! I feel wooziness, lightheaded, and dizzy frequently. I talked to my doctor who said the side effects are normal and should pass completely in 2-3 weeks. Drinking any alcohol during this time only magnifies the symptoms so I suggest refraining for a few weeks. I went from 40 Celexa to 150 Well.

Reading all the previous posts I really feel for you all! I've been on Generic Celexa for over 3 years but have been spiraling downhill over the last 6 months particularly, getting very bad the last 2-3. The generic compounds do effect people differently IMO and my pharmacy has obviously stocked a cheap replacement. I've done a lot of reading lately about Celexa and it does not compare as favorably with other meds. I've posted this link to a study comparing it to Escitalopram which is worth reading:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15107719
Anyhow, I am going planning to go off Celexa gradually and introduce Escitalopram for a trial period. But I was on Wellbutrin before Celexa and never experienced the terrifying side effects that the Celexa generic gave me over time (Even mild hallucinations!) I would never switch from one to another abruptly but that's my opinion for my own body. So if the Escitalopram doesn't fit the bill I will switch back to the Wellbutrin, even with its shortcomings. For me the Celexa is a poisonous concoction and I'd frankly prefer depression over the frankly unbearably symptoms it has given me personally. To all out there inform yourself, read some studies and be strong. Demand better results for yourself as you deserve better.
