Completely new poster, but with similar problems to those above. For the most part the mucus is clear, but when I go to the bathroom and white, it is present in abundance. Not only that, but it seems to be super consistent in its secretion. I suppose from what I've read here I can conclude that the reason it does this is because I am on birth control (I have been mostly due to irregular periods, but I have had sex with my boyfriend while on it, too) and it is my body's way of defending against infections since the pill tricks it into thinking I am pregnant.
Okay, so I have an answer as to WHAT and WHY it is.... but I want to know HOW TO MAKE IT STOP. I was on the pill once before (in high school - that time for irregular periods ONLY) and I remember there being some discharge then, too. But when I stopped taking the pill, I feel like the consistent discharge continued, just that it wasn't as thick or as prevalent as it is now that I'm on the pill again. But it's staining some of my underwear it's so bad, so is there anything I can do to make it stop happening, or is this something natural that happens to everyone? It makes me feel disgusting and unclean and embarrassed when getting intimate - what if my partner sees? It looks so gross!

In response to the brown discharge, if your period is late, this could be "old blood." When your uterine line does not shed in the form of a period, it simply accumulates and sometimes gets old. Once your period finally comes on, it's the "old blood" that sheds first - appearing to be brown discharge. - My doctor told me this.

Thank you so much! I'm 12 about to turn 13 and I had egg white/ mucus stuff come out of my body. I did not feel it and noticed it when I went to the restroom. I immediatly looked it up and this site/ others comments helped me figure it out. I asked my mom and she said the same thing you said. So THANK YOU!!!! I was so scared at first!

I'm 12 years old and never had my period. It is clearish, whitish or even sometimes a very, very light yellow. This happened last year for about 3 months and the year before that for about 1 month, now its happening again for about 2 months and still continuing. I'm very nervous that I will have my period cause I'm in middle school and last year our teachers gave us "the puberty talk". I have been noticing for a long time that I have a "raw egg" like discharge. I've been on the pill for about 15 years. I recently stopped taking the pill because of plans to become pregnant. (only about two weeks) I am scared my chances are lessened because of taking the pills for so long. Or it may take longer for me to become pregnant. Today I noticed it was thicker and more than usual. Why is this? Does this mean I am ovulating?

Hi, I just had an abortion in october.... and I've been in birth control since... by now I should be getting my period but insted I had that clear mucus for the past 5 or 6 days i had sex the day before yesterday and then yesterday I had severe cramping today I'm having some brown spoting.......please help what could this be.....thanks

I recently have had surgery to have my appendix removed and now i'm home recovering..I went to the bathroom this morning and I have small amounts of thick gel like discharge. It isn't really clear.. its more of a pinkish clear color. should i be worried..? Anyone know what this may be?

I had the same problem and when I went to the gyn he said everything seemed healthy but my regular doctor said he might have something that can help. He put me on an anti fungal pill which worked wonderfully. I had it for months and right after he gave me the pill it went away. He said that out body sometimes stores fungus from other problem goin on in our body and it seems to affect us in weird ways.
