Hey there! I am looking into Chagas disease. I have heard that there is an acute stages which happens immediately after infection, followed by a chronic stage, which develops over many years, since most people are not aware they became infected. Can you explain the differences to me please? Thanks.

The acute stage is often symptomless and if there are symptoms, is is no worse than a slight fever, fatigue and swelling on the eyelids. This often seems like no more than a common flu. years after the initial infection the nervous system, digestive system and even the heart can be affected, and if you are not aware you have Chagas disease, you are very likely to die from it.
