Does anyone know of or heard of Dr. Casey Dauw of University of Michigan? He has done over 1000 HoLeps and was trained by Dr Lingiman. I have a 150 prostate and cannot void at all. I am also 81 years old and my local Dr recommended him.

Hi, John.
I heard many good things about him.
Dr. Casey Dauw is a urologist at the University of Michigan and he is a specialist in HoLEP surgery. He is a member of the American Urological Association and is board certified in Urology.
Have you already made an appointment or are you planning to?

I "hope" to make an appointment with him. I am a 81 year old diabetic with COPD and a smoker. I just hope he will accept me. I am full cath right now.

Hi again, Joh.
Yes, you are right, you are a risk to them. If a person has diabetes and COPD and is a smoker, he is at an increased risk for developing postoperative complications. This is because diabetes and COPD can both cause inflammation in the body, and smoking can worsen the inflammation. The patient should be monitored closely and provided with medical care to ensure any postoperative complications are quickly and properly addressed.
Additionally, the patient should be encouraged to quit smoking and adhere to a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of further complications.
Maybe he will give you a chance. You have nothing to lose.
If not, do you have any other doctor in the mind?

Not really Levar. Another option I am considering is to keep using the Foley. I have gotten used to it and I live alone. My interest in sex left many moons ago so that is not a player. At 82 how many more moons do I have? I'm quite inactive also BTW. Thank you for all your replies.

No problem, John.
As for Foley, it would still be a good idea to consult a doctor.
Anyway, I wish you luck. Let me know if you talk with a specialist.
