I have been on Prednisone on and off for more then 15 years at one point 18 months . I will tell you it has great qualities but the side effects that I know now. I would do whatever I can to get off of it ASAP. Please try to understand it is only for temporary use while on it no Sugar!! It will spike but not like if you are normal. What is normal? Think like a diabetic! You will look like a puffer fish for awhile but watch what you eat an walk n swim if you can. I have been thru hell and back hell doesn't want me and God is not done using me lol...good luck!! God bless !!

Hi! My 14 yo son is type 1. His sugar always runs high, on top of being a rebelling teenager, he isn't the greatest at the disease. I gave him 20mg and his sugar dropped to 130-140. This is since last night at dinner time and his sugar has been steady at his prime target since he took it. We were pretty amazed after the research we had done about the effects!! Thank you for sharing! I'm immensely happy this has helped him so much and am gald to share similar experiences!

I just recently finished a 10 day tapered course, and my doctor has increased my diabetes medication. He says that left untreated, it can take up to 2 weeks for glucose levels to return to normal. Most sources I'd read had listed a shorter spam (usually 1-3 days), but mine had already lasted 4 when I contacted him.

Was put on prednisone for a horrific itching problem that included, the female area... Was nearly crazy with this......Dermatologist put me on prednisone and although it gave me some relief, I developed very high blood sugar, extremely tired and exhausted.. Went to a Patient First who then told me I needed fluid and went to a hospital for IV. Back to family doctor two days later where he did blood work. I am no better and unfortunately the skin problem returned.......Do not take predisone ever.

My doctor prescribed 10 mg tablets for 5 days taking 6 ea first day and reducing 1 ea day until completed. My blood sugar went up to over 300, after eating oatmeal for breakfast and taking 8 units of Insulin. I usually take 6 units in the morning. Not sure if the cure of my rash on my arm justifies the change in my blood sugar.

I have experienced the same thing! I have been on 5 mg of prednisone for over 6 months and now on 10mg for an autoimmune disease that I have having a flare up with. My sugars have been great! Just did my A1C and it was 5.8 lowest its been in years! No one can explain this to me.

I have to be on prednisone for 2 weeks, 60 mg and my sugar is around 400 at night, better in the morning around 220, normal for me is 100 to 120. I have an auto immune problem an the only treatment is prednisone. This scares me as I am 81 and normally feel ok and I am frightened this is going to do something to my organs and I don't bounce back like I use to. I am starting to reduce the dose and really hope this won't damage my pancreas even more. This is scary stuff.
