Incidentally, I have just had a cortisone injection into my knee and I’ve noticed my mood is rather low.

Considering the number of people it is happening to, I’d have to disagree. I’m not “predisposed to aggression” but I’m very angry! The smallest thing will set me off (ex. Your comment) normally I wouldn’t let something like that bother me. Just because you don’t have a reason for it doesn’t make it a fact! I actually just spoke with my doctor and he confirmed that the injections can cause mood swings.

Today, the shot made me chatty-hyper. Pain gone tho! Got home to find a wierd strange drunk bum in my yard. The hyper - meaness was useful. Got him gathering his suitcase and stuff while I phoned police. I drove around hyper looking for help from neighbors while the bum strolled down the road, and he used someone elses yard as a bathroom!
Finally, a young calm guy started to talk to the bum keeping him there and police arrived. Thank you hyperness. You can go away now tho. LOL.

Had an injection and a week later I got news of my wife wanting a divorce and I totally lost it and grabbed her. I was uncontrollable. These are bad bad things. I have no chance of getting back with her as I choked her and have scared her to death. Real nice stuff

I truly empathize with you! Plead for mercy, help, forgiveness. We have a merciful Father in heaven. I fear some meds are a curse/they do not cure.

My mom is on cortisone right now for a severe lung infection and is being extraordinarily cranky, combative and just plain impossible. But the cortisone is saving her life, so we just have to try and manage as best we can. Fortunately, this is not the first time for her, so we know what to expect. I experienced a milder version of what she is going through a few years back when I had two injections, which made me irritable and nasty for days afterwards. So I know how it feels. I do wish that this side-effect was better documented and publicised, though. I feel really bad for those people -- and their loved ones -- who are experiencing it for the first time and are confused and frightened by it because nobody warned them what to expect. To me, that is just not right.

I had a lumbar bilateral epidural injection on Thursday to my L4 and L5 and I feel horrible. I can not stop crying. My pain is better, but I feel weak and I can't stop crying!

I totally get it!! I just got my first cortisone shot and in my knee and was screaming at my sis-in-laws on the phone the next night!! I was crying, shaking, SO angry; my heart racing for days and poor sleep. I feel like I'm calming after 4 days but totally agree with you above! I just sent out an apology email and hope I don't damaged relationships. I completely asked the doctor if something like this would happen when I was getting it.....since I know I had this anger when temporarily on Prednisone pills 40mg for 5 days. He said "No". I'm glad you understand.

I have the same problem. I took Steroids both orally and injectable for various issues of the past 30 years and as I get older the reaction to these drugs becomes more extreme each time. I feel like I can't quit crying ans shaking. I am at the point where the pain is not always as bad as the side effects. I have friends in their 60's as I am that have similar issues. It seems to be that the older you get...or the more you have been given these drugs... the worse the reaction.
