I had a pain doctor once tell me “I can’t make any money by just prescribing pain pills.” This, I believe is why so many people are being made into human pin cushions. It’s unfair, and quite frankly, malpractice in my opinion. They know you’re in pain and need your pain pills, so they have you by the short hairs. I have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. I’ve had 4 joint replacements, have Sjogrens, Fibro & ankylosing spondylitis. My rheumatologist and my pain doctor are in competition to see who can give me the most shots. I’ve been on opiate pain killers for 5 years and I don’t know if i could make it without them.

I was receiving cortisone injections in my hand. Ankle folded like a cheap suit (22 year old Army injury) I’m a mechanic and I developed a condition in my left thumb after a bad fall. I was twisting my ankle an average of twice a year. Tore a bunch of ligaments in my hand trying to brace for impact with the earth and also injured my knee.
Total ankle reconstruction surgery. Rehab...aquatic therapy. Awesome. Brand new man.

Fast forward. Developed issues where my hand would just let go of stuff. Then I lost strength in it. Then the pain. Excruciating pain. Suffered as long as I could until I had to see a doctor. Did I mention I’m a mechanic?...anyway, doctor give me an injection tHat hurt like hell for a day but then, like a miracle, I’m wrenching again like nobody’s business!
Brand new man.
Month and a have later....damn, hurts again. No problem...another shot, day of pain, BOOM right back at it...love this stuff.
Brand new man.
Two months later same story.

Two years goes by doctor is like hey uh your up to 8 of these...let’s try an x-ray assisted injection.
Might last longer...BOOM.
HURTS LIKE HELL...brand new man.
Last six months...realized I’ve gained 85 lbs.
Developed diabetes, sleep apnea and high blood pressure. and that knee I mention is know destroyed.
Can’t concentrate at work. Suddenly fighting with my beautiful wife and kids...our beautiful new home becomes a bastion of debilitating stress and anxiety.
Gonna lose me job my home my wife my kids!

I had better cool it with these injections. I’ve gone up two pants sizes...damn shots don’t work anymore anyway...

What’s wrong with me!...why is everyone against me!
DOESN’T ANYONE CARE!

Wife leaves, takes my two beautiful girls.
Hey, doctor remember me. I need a new eye exam. Four years ago you said I didn’t need contacts my eyes healed and my vision was corrected but now my visions always blurry and I can’t focus. No cataracts but I can’t give you a perscription because I think you are hyperglycemic and you may drop dead any day now.
Cataracts maybe you say?...I’m 47 years old...
328 pounds!...how the hell did that happen...
Sleep study reveals you die an average of 26 times a night?!...been walking around in a sleep deprived zombie-like state for to years?...
empty house, wife filing for divorce anyday now...entire world sees you as a abusive drug addict that can’t even drag himself outta bed and go pay for this can of tuna he can’t open because your furious beautiful love of your life took the can opener
two weeks ago. I swear this is a nightmare I’m gonna wake up from right?...

Doctor, my hand is killing me. I’ll take that shot now.

I am shocked by some of this on here. Battery, hitting children and animals. That’s completely uncalled for. Yes they can make you crazy but practice some restraint. If you are hurting children and animals stop and can’t control yourselves then stop taking them and call the police to stop you from battering your kids and pets.

Hello all. Our health expert gave us another short answer about this subject.

Yes, it is true that steroid injections can have an impact on hormone levels in the body. Steroids, also known as corticosteroids, are synthetic drugs that mimic the effects of hormones naturally produced by the body, such as cortisol. They are often prescribed to reduce inflammation, suppress the immune system, and manage various medical conditions.

When administered through injections, steroids can have systemic effects on hormone levels. Here are a few ways in which steroid injections can impact hormones:

  1. Adrenal Suppression: Steroids can suppress the function of the adrenal glands, which produce hormones like cortisol. Prolonged use or high doses of steroids can inhibit the natural production of cortisol, leading to adrenal suppression. When steroid injections are discontinued, the adrenal glands may take time to recover and resume normal hormone production.

  2. HPA Axis Disruption: The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is a complex hormonal pathway involved in the regulation of cortisol production. Steroid injections can disrupt the normal functioning of the HPA axis, affecting the release of hormones and potentially leading to imbalances in the body.

  3. Testosterone and Estrogen Effects: In some cases, steroid injections, particularly those containing anabolic steroids, can interfere with the production and balance of sex hormones such as testosterone and estrogen. This can result in hormonal imbalances and potential side effects, such as reduced fertility, changes in libido, and mood swings.

It's important to note that the extent of hormonal impact can vary depending on factors such as the type of steroid, dosage, duration of use, and individual sensitivity. Short-term or occasional steroid injections are less likely to cause significant and lasting hormonal disturbances compared to long-term or frequent use.
