I was on Depo for 3 years. My last shot was 8/12 and I haven't regained my period yet. Be happy you've gotten something. I would def start doing ovulation tests to determine if you're ovulating or not. I've asked my dr for provera or the BC pill to jumpstart my cyle but he refuses. I'm told to be patient. So I know how desperate you are and I will not tell you to wait it out. I've ordered some herbs to restart naturally. I've read agnus castus can regulate your cycle after depo so that might be something you want to try.

My last depo shot was March 2011 and still no period (2 years later) and currently going through fertility treatments and have been through 3 treatments with no success. I have to say the depo destroys a womans uterus lining. My fertility doctor informed my husband and I that when she did just OBGYN that she would not prescribe Depo provera to any woman in their child bearing years that wanted children in there future because of the fertility issues that Depo does cause. Here is some links that women need to be informed. I wish I would have been!!!!

hi my name is april, i only had the injection one time and that was because i suffer from a rare anemia and they thought it would help. Well my dr did not inform me that it could take for ever to have children. My fist injection was june 2011 and i was due september 12 2012 and i did not get it.. My periods came back right away and me and my husband want to have kids. We have been trying and then i was having all the pregnancy symptoms and i was week late but no baby. Now i am starting be negative because we have been trying since i was on depo. What do i do?

Hi April, sorry to hear your experiencing this too. Your doctor is so naughty he should have told you that it can take between 18 months and 2 years to conceive after coming off this injection. It is known that some ladies (very few from what i have heard and read) that get pregnant straight away and have had no side affects or problems coming off this depo but it really does depend on your body!
Sorry to hear about your rare anemia. Have you got this all sorted and something that helps it? I am only asking because pregnancy can make you anemic and i wouldn't want yours to get any worse. Have you tried Spatone? It's a liquid iron supplement and it really helped me when i became anemic with my first pregnancy. You just add it to a glass of orange juice and you take one every day. Different to what you have i know but i thought i would ask to see if you've tried it?
Are your periods regular? and do you have a normal period every month?ie: flow and colour?
The first thing i would suggest you do is to make a note of everything you experience and when you come on your period, how heavy it is or isn't. I found this website really useful and it really helped me get through it all.

It's been 7 months since you were meant to go back for another injection so what i would do for now is try not to worry, keep stress free (stress can affect all sorts inc when you come on your period, it can make it late or not happen) and just focus on logging as much stuff as you can for now so you can get an idea of what your body is doing and going through at the moment. Keep Smiling, you WILL get there.
I would advise you don't go on any other form of contraception, i was tempted but then i just realised it would take longer for everything to go back to normal. Just try and stay patient and hate to say but for now try put getting pregnant out your head until some more time has passed. Keep a record of everything, make sure your getting regular periods first and try not to get stressed about it because it WILL happen. That's what i had to do and when i was getting normal periods etc i then bought an ovulation kit to find out if i were ovulating and when abouts in my cycle. Took time but i got there in the end.
It took 19 months after my last depo injection to conceive. I got there in the end and so will you. :) That website really helped me and it helped to take my mind off things and concentrate on the patterns and cycles my body was going through. I learnt quite a bit!! Especially when i was fertile. I was a little later than what the website said but thats because i was keeping an eye on my CM.
I really hope this helps, best of luck :) xxx

I got my depo shot July 2011 and never went back for the other one. I am a mother to 1 and have been trying for the second one. This month will be 18 months since i was due for another shot and still haven't been able to get pregnant. I have had my period since i got the shot. Sometimes i get it on a 28, 29, 30, 31 and 34 day cycles but they last 5 days. Im desperate and wonder what is wrong. If its 2 years and i still haven't become prego im afraid ill have to go to the fertility doc.

weather any hope to anyone out there but i was on depo from the age of 17 - 27, 10 years, i didnt have a single period in all that time and got pregnant withing 4 months of when missed injection was due, i then went back on it for 2 years and have just come off again (missed injection 4 weeks ago) in hopes of baby no.2 i hope things will work as well as before for me and hubby, i knew very little about the depo when first taking it, and have read up on it alot these past few months and realised for years i had alot of symptom that none of the doctors i saw flaged up as being related to depo. so you can be on it for a long time, with side affects and no periods and still fall pregnant, even if it was just luck and no.2 never appears there is still hope for me and all of you having problems my daughter is proof
