Hi FreakChick
In order to stop masturbating you have to deal with the desire to masturbate. Your brain is the biggest factor, but some practical things also are needed. You will struggle to put out a fire if you are fuelling it with highly flammable liquid. So it is with sex. It will be difficult to just stop.
First of all to look at the 2 factors you mention: [1] feeling bad & [2] physical pain
- Why do you feel bad?
- Is it because you believe it is a wrong thing to do?
- If so, why do believe it is a wrong thing to do?
- Are there any cultural or religious implications?
- is it because of the associations and circumstances?
- If so, what are those associations or circumstances?
- Do you use anything to mentally arouse yourself?
- Has anyone or anything aroused you?
- Is it because you believe it is a wrong thing to do?
- Why and where does it hurt?
- Where exactly does it hurt?
- Is it because of how you are masturbating?
- How do you masturbate?
- Is it clitoral or vaginal stimulation or both?
- What do you use when masturbating?
- Do you use fingers or a 'toy'
- Do you use lubrication?
Having looked at those areas, it may well identify where you need to concentrate on trying to stop. Those things that generate the desire to masturbate need to be forfeited (mental & physical) where possible. Perhaps the biggest help is the real reason you want to stop. You need to be certain not only that you want to stop, but certain that you must stop.
So, identify all the factors, examine them mentally, emotionally & spiritually, and put a plan in place. If possible have a critical friend (whom you trust implicitly) to whom you become accountable. Maybe find a friend on this site who is willing to help. Maybe tell them every day for a week honestly how you have fared. Then it could be every week then every month (or until you feel you have managed the situation).
I hope this helps as a start.
