Its the only drug that has helped me with both anxiety and insomnia after 26 years of everything else..Drugs work different on some people and don't for others ...so saying its horrible is childish...That's a personal opinion.I think the drug isn't the only problem with the poster.

thats what trazadone does to me! I hadn't found the words to describe it, but thats it -- I can't get to sleep- but eyes seem droopy, and repetitive thoughts- I am taking for nerve pain after tongue surgery for cancer- and for resulting anxiety, anger, impatience and every other negative you can think of-- Trazadone has not helped,, just gave me some new symptoms -- it is 5th drug i have tried--to no avail. I seem to have to opposite effect I am supposed to have from all of them--good luck to all of us!

Trazadone is not generic Ativan. Ativan is a benzo. I am on a waiting list for a lung transplant and my transplant pulmonologist prescribed Trazadone in the hopes of helping my insomnia because they don't want me on a benzo.

I started taking melatonin which does not work like a sleeping pill but great for racing thoughts & lower dose of trazadone for sleep. Safe combination with doctors advice.

Are you sure Trazodone is a TCA? The Wikipedia page calls it a SARI (serotonin antagonist reuptake inhibitor).
