Dear Linza

It could be you have cystitis, which is easily treated.

I don't know where you are and what is available, but I would recommend at least seeing a pharmacist who you can talk to. You may need to talk to your doctor.

It depends on exactly how the cystitis was caused what you need to do. Often with first sex, it is caused by bruising, causing inflammation. The symptoms of cystitis usually clear up without treatment within 4-9 days. There are some self-help treatments that can ease the discomfort of any symptoms. However, it might be caused by bacteria transferred from contaminated hands or from the anus. This would require antibiotics.

  • Self-help treatment for a mild attack:
  1. Over the counter painkillers (paracetamol or ibuprofen) can reduce pain and discomfort. But always read the label and check with your pharmacist first, particularly if you have any other medical condition, or you are taking other medicines &c.
  2. Drinking plenty of water is often recommended as a treatment for cystitis (2 pints a day). This should help keep your urine so that it is less likely to sting. Some people find that using urine alkanising agents, such as sodium bicarbonate or potassium citrate, for a short period of time may help to relieve urination pain. Check with your GP or pharmacist first if you are taking any other medication.
  3. Also avoid alcohol.
  4. Drinking cranberry juice may help to prevent outbreaks of recurrent cystitis.
  5. Until it clears up, you should avoid sexual intercourse and stimulation to the urethral area, as this could make it worse. Depending on the size of your clit, complete avoidance of stimulation in the genital area is needed. When you do resume sex, use plenty of lubrication.
  6. If your husband has a big penis, it might have contributed. You will have to consider how best to accommodate him (later) without damaging yourself.

If the symptoms do not lessen after three or four days (or they increase), I would advise consulting a doctor.

For more help, I would need more information about exactly what you did and how you did it, details you might not want to divulge in public. If you want to private message me, please do so.

I hope this helps. Look forward to hearing from you.
