I just recently had a overlapping sphincteroplasty on Jan.31/07.
I am just concerned about stool leaking from my vagina,aswell as gas coming from my vagina...is this normal while in post-op. I heard that this could be the case for 6-8 weeks after operation...I am worried as I am afraid that I will need to have a Vaginal Fistula repair.

I had overlapping sphincteroplasty done in 2001. Mine was a horror story from a bad doctor at birth but happened just the same. My surgeon did a wonderful job as I was completely incontinent. They got a better result than what they had even hoped for....which leaves me at not being able to hold soft stool or gas. My life has changed because of this....but I am fine and not wearing a diaper!!! My biggest worry is what happens as I get older....I am pretty sure muscle does not get better with age.....I hope you the best....
