Hello, good people. Maybe my question will seem strange to you, but I would like to ask it anyway. I would like to know if diabetic nephropathy is something that happens only to diabetics. Are there any other cases where this can appear? I would be grateful to hear what you think about this.

Hello, there. I think that diabetes nephropathy is reserved for diabetics. It is in fact diabetic microangiopathy. It means that there are specific changes in all small blood vessels in whole body. Kidney is just one of the locations. It can affect retina, intestines, etc. Blood vessels in kidneys can be changed in other diseases like in hypertension, but I am not sure whether these changes are the same. You should check this with an expert. I hope I’ve helped. Bye!
