When i got my period i was 12 years old and i did not know until i went to us the bathroom and saw blood all over my panties. if your panties feel wet (like you peed yourself) go check the bathroom because chances are you have started you period. I though I had wet my pants when i first got mine. i was scared when i went to the bathroom and saw that it was blood but my mother told me i was a woman now and then she gave me a pad.
