Hello all. I’m 35 and generally in good health and form. Until last night I’ve never experienced any bloodpreasure problems neither. But, last night I had really severe headache that I had to visit my doc. He measured my bloodpreasure – it was 182/81. He told me that it was high and that was the cause for my headache. He also prescribed me teveten that I’ve just started taking. Is there anybody here who knows something more about this med?? I’m sorta scared and I would really appreciate any kind of help… Thank you.

Teveten is one of the newer additions to a class of meds known as the angiotension 2 receptor blockers. They are good meds that not only control moderate hypertension but also have little or no side effects. So, you don’t have to worry about the med – it is sure the right choice. But, I’m more concerned for something else… How many times did you measure your blood pressure so far?? I mean, your bottom, which was 81, is not abnormal – optimal value is 76 but +-5 to 6 is perfectly normal. Top one should be less than 140 – optimal is 120 – so yours is high. What I want to say is that maybe you don’t have to constantly use the med your doc prescribed you because it is possible that that hbp occurred only once. At least that’s what you’ve said “Until last night I’ve never experienced any bloodpreasure problems neither” So, I would recommend you to start checking your blood pressure more often just to see weather you have pressure problem or not.
