I have been prescribed with Lexapro for my depression problems. My initial dosage is 10 mg a day. I wonder, is this too much of a Lexapro dosage? I do not wont to get addicted, so will lesser dosages ensure that? I mean, does it even work that way? Will I get addicted no matter the amount I take? I am already starting to get nervous and jumpy because of my depression, I really do not need another thing to worry about.

Lets put it this way. To win some, you must lose some. Even though Lexapro will get you addicted, we are not talking about strong addictions, or strong drugs. The mistake people usually make is that they try to stop suddenly with the therapy, that is a wrong thing to do. Slowly reducing the dosage is a safe and painless way to stop the therapy. As for dosage, 10 mg a day is a standard amount prescribed for people who take Lexapro for the first time. After that initial dosage, progress you make and consultation with doctor will determine if you will change the dosage.

The term addictive is an inaccurate one to apply to antidepressants. I have been taking Efexor for 7 months and it changed my life, i love it! I have been weaning off it recently to go onto Lexapro for other reasons, and am experiencing discontinuation symptoms, but nothing like what I had read about on posts! I guess it does depend on your constitution, brain and emotional make up and everyone's is different. But I can say even though it was tough, I knew why I was experiencing the odd physical sensations and I knew why I was emotional so it wasn't too bad in that sense. I also took very low doses of Xanax to help, and it was great for the washout period between changing over. I also knew that I was going onto another one, and if it works as well as Efexor, then ill be happy! - Although I did find I had to persist with the Efexor for quite a few weeks with the intense side effects, but wow it was such a relief to feel normal again and to see everything in perspective once it kicked in.
Hope that helps somebody
Whatever your journey, I wish you luck :-)
