Happy new year all!
I came across this board while looking for answers. This is my 2nd time taking Lexapro. First time was 4 years ago and it was great, i took it for depression and anxiety after moving to NYC and leaving all my frends and family behind plus starting a new job and school FT.
A little over a month ago I started feeling anxiety and depression again, this time due to lots of stress, being away from family around the holidays...I went to dr and he gave me Lexapro again since I did so well the first time. I took the generic for a few days and it actually INCREASED my anxiety.
Changed it to the brand about 2 weeks ago and I have felt amazing! Like myself! I have stayed away from alcohol just to be sure bc since it is a depressant I didn't want it to counter act...Well come NYE I thought I was well enough to drink a little...I had a couple of beers, maybe 3 or 4 and a shot. I was fine and had a great time! That same day, I may have taken a double dosage of my 10mg because I didn't remember if I took it initially.
Come Tuesday, New Year's Day, I started feeling a little anxious, but mostly at night.....Then this morning I feel like I had a panic/anxiety attack...rapid heartbeat, sweaty hands, cold sweats, throwing up...Been feeling very anxious all day. I called a pharmacist who said it could be a counteract of the double dosage and alcohol...Called another pharmacist who said the double dosage should now be out of my system. But I am still feeling extremely anxious and have had a rough day at work. Called my dr who is not in today but left a message. The assistant said to continue my dosages as usual....The pharmacists agreed.
Has anyone had a similar experience? What should I do? I am FREAKING out...Thanks!
Jo
