I've been on my period for 5 months.

Ive been on for 3 months now and im really scared seeing that some people have been on for 5 months because i have a boyfriend and i know it frustrates him as much as it does me and all because of depo injection, and to add to my luck im also allergic to it as well so i found out last time i had it :/

im going on month 7 on my period... its making me crazy. i went to the doctor last month and she gave me some meds that stopped the bleeding for about a week (the best week ive had in the past 7 months lol) and then gave me some birthcontrol to continue taking. once i started taking to birthcontrol SURPRISE im bleeding again. and its not just spotting or a heavy peroid i feel like im bleeding to death. i have to take like 3 showers a day. i feel tired and my back hurts all the time. i get dizzy and shaky. no clue whats going on and im begining to think neither dose my doctor who was voted the best obgyn in the metroplex. ive had an ultra sound done to see if there were any sists or tumors on my ovaries and i was told they came up clean. she also mentioned because of all the blood loss ive become anemic, which explain the tired and dizzyness... but seriously i cant go anywhere or do anything because every few minutes or so i have to chage my tampon before it looks like a murder scene in my pants. it sucks. i hate it. o.O

Im going to the doctors tuesday because Ive been bleeding for almost two months now, Ive had the depo injections
4 times before and i missed one and decided to stop getting them all together because they just make my periods irregular
and didnt stop them! I wanna get new conterception like the on in your arm. But I cant until ive stopped this period!
so there giving me more pills to stop it temerary, so they can have a look down there! This is uber fustrating. and My stomatch
hurts and I was absolutally starving today! I ate soo much! :-( Never will I go back to the depo injection it ruins period cycles!

I have had my period for six months and was told to wait it out so i have been off my birth control for 2 weeks now and i feel like its getting worse im not sure what to do my doctor doesnt seem to think its anything. He thought it could be cuz im pregnant but we did the test and it turns out im not so we cant figure this out. Hi i was started on the same thing when i was 16 i have the same issues you do n iv had it for years now im 21 now all the doctors told me the same thing and its very frustrating and hard to deal with im always searching for answers but always get the same answers lol i didnt know all the effects and long term effects of the depo shot till after being on it for about a year im sorry to say this is 1 of them and i found out when i was 18 i was steral due to the shot i would highly suggest getting off the shot asap and just take the pill it will regulate your period and help with having a normal cycle every month it might be weird for a few months but should help the depo shot can take up to 1 year to get fully out of your system i wish you the best of luck this is coming from someone who lives everyday with the same problems

guys.. im 15 on a depo shot too.  i've been having mine for 4 months now. but after reading all of this. i'm really worried about it. i think im anemic too after reading this.. and my clots are HUGEE. it's scaring me. 

Ok so i have had irregular periods since i first got my period , meaning for a few months my pd was normal than i would miss it for a few months, then all of the sudden i cant get my. Period to go ive been on it like about 5 mths all ready and it will go alway like for have a day and then i get it back for the rest of the day really idont what to do so i under stand what your going through

whew! most of the comments are dated a year ago. but hell! i'm still gonna share my problem. i've gotten into this page obviously because i'm having my period for almost 4 months now and i really don't know what to do. i'm in my 3rd year in college and my period is really hard and kinda expensive since i have to buy sanitary napkins most of the time. there are times, especially if i'm in a hurry or stressed where i bleed so hard that i can't even attend classes anymore. and i also experienced large blot clot. it really has taken a toll on my lovelife. i'm irritated most of the times that most oftenly i start a fight with my boyfriend for pity stuff. i can't even enjoy sexual activitied anymore. like other women here i feel tired, exhausted and not really in the mood. there was this one time where my boy friend push me have sex with him since we haven't had sex for a very long time so i give in only in one condition we should put the lights off... only to be embrassed because my blood flow grew heavier. so we have to stop because i was so embarrased and i feel so uncomfortable. when he went to the bathroom to wash i was left in the room and when i turn on the lights i was so shocked because my blood was all over my bed sheet. when my boyfriend got of the shower he was in shocked too and look kinda pale. he told me that there was alot of blood in his stomach going to his thighs and he saw alot of large blood clot too. when i heared that i was so embarrased and afraid that it would totally turn him off and leave me. so i cried alot because of humiliation and embarassment. after that he hugged me and just told me that he was so afraid of what will happen to me. he was so worried that i would lose all my blood and i would die. that time i was relieved that he was not even disgusted.. he told me to go see a doctor but i was afraid to have a check-up and it's also very expensive.ever since that insident we didn't have sex anymore. he told me he'll just wait until it will stop. luckily it stopped for 2 days now but i'm still afraid that it will come back days from now. maybe i really should go to the doctor.

but i'm so happy knowing that i'm no the only one who is going through a situation like this. i almost felt like giving up. i panic and cry most of the times because of this.. 

When I was 15 I had laparoscopic surgery due to horrible pains in my abdomen, the worst cramps you could imagine, and other complications including an irregular period. They found I had endometriosis, they removed what they could and also put me on the depo shot. Ever since then, I'm on my period more often times than not. It has completely taken over my life. I am 27 yrs old, and married... Sadly, most of the time we have sex i'm on my period. We have a very healthy sex life, and I HATE that I'm always bleeding on him when we are doing one of the things that's suppose to be "beautiful" NOT look like a scene from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre! It is very embarrassing to me, not only the blood... But... I hate the smell of menstrual blood too! It doesn't matter how clean you are, You can smell it when you're having sex... And so can he =(. My husband is a trooper! It bothered him for a while, but when we realized this was how it's going to be, we dealt with it. Now it's just a pain in the butt routine, we get goin, then before we get to actually have sex it's... "Hold on babe, I'll be right back" hurry and take the tampon out, wipe off, wash hands, get towel, shut off the lights.... Then it's start all over again.

I am SO ready to get off my period, but no matter what the Dr. tries ( as far as other BC methods ) it doesn't work. They say the only way to stop it at this point would be a hysterectomy =( I want at least one baby before that happens, and I feel like I'm too young for one at 27!

Are there ANY birth control methods that worked better for anyone?

I have been on my period for over a month, no birth control ever, no pain, no blood clots, just spot on and off, sometimes heavy but other than that I dont know whats causing it...the next morning after sex i run to bathroom with a lot of blood..then back to normal..im 27 with 1 child

I'm 19 and I got the Depo shot in mid-March and the same thing happened to me. I started my period in June and I am still on it. It is driving me crazy. I've spent so much money because I have to buy a box of tampons every week. I also never really want to have sex with my boyfriend and I am always tired. I have been breaking out like crazy, and I used to have really really good skin except for the usual period break outs. Sometimes it stops, but like you said the break doesn't last longer than a day. I have a friend this also happened to. She went to Planned Parenthood and asked what they thought and the nurse said that on rare occasion this happens so don't worry, but there's nothing they can do. So I guess our only option is to wait it out. Sorry I couldn't help you out, but I just wanted you to know you're not the only one!

Ihad my son 4 mts ago got on depo at 4 wk checkup ive been on my period eversince im crampy moody tired,i dont know whats wrong they keep telling me it will stop im 4 mths now and its driveing me crazy your not alone

I thought it was just me with this problem! I had the depo injection about..6-7 months ago and ive been on my period ever since..My emotions are all over the place, One minute im depressed, next im happy its strange. It aint anything serious i hope. But im gunna go to the doctors and see what i could be, They may give you some tablets to thicken your blood up so you dont loose as much.

yeah f*****g right! it does not go away for everyone. so dont tell people to not worry about it.

Hey, i see u posted this like 2 years ago. But i was curious to know what u did to get the period to stop n all. I'm going through the same thing rite now. This month (dec 2012) is 6 months. Idk what to do, i'm goin crazy. My body constantly hurts, i'm tired all the time and have been getting headaches alot. I want it to end. I'm scared. So if u could let me kno that'd b great.
