I'm 19 years old and this is the second time I've been on my period for 2 months. The first time was the time I decided I wanted off the depo shot after being on it for about 2 years. Once my shot was up I instantly started bleeding and it didn't stop for 2 and a half months I finally gave up and went back on the depo shot. During those 3 months i got sick and decided I was done with depo for good. I recently got married in feb of 2012. I decided I didnt want back on it because i heard sometimes it took up to a full year or more to become pregnant after depo not in all cases but some so i didnt get it still. And it's been about 2 months I've been on my period I don't want to be on it much longer bc where I live it's hot and. I'm also anemic. I sit at home all day bc from 6:30 am to 6:30pm by myself my husband is in the Airforce. I get worried bc I am by myself and I get lightheaded and feel faint I can barely sleep haven't at all for about 2 months now. I look horrible due to lack of sleep an now food does t sit right with me. Severe back pains, abdominal pains and no pain medicine will work for cramps or the headaches or back aches. I've been waiting a month for this doctors appointment bc how full they are and I'm afraid they will tell me I'm fine and I wont be able to get another for a while. Please anyone who has had these symptoms and been to the doctor let me know how it went or what was said. I've already been to the doctor about this before back home and he just suggested birth control pills which I don't want. Thank you to anyone. Sorry it was so long.

Hi, I'm a nurse. While people do have bleeding issues lots of times after depo, your particular case sounds like it has progressed beyond normal. Not to scare you, but some of your symptoms do resemble those of female cancers-cervical, uterine, or ovarian. You said you have a Dr. appt scheduled, but if you are losing enough blood that it is causing you to stay anemic and have light headedness and depending on how soon your appt is, I would definitely get to an ER. I'm sure if your husband is military than you have insurance? That way they could give you a better idea of how serious or minor your symptoms are. If it is some type of cancer, it's easier treatable the sooner they find it. Plus, it isn't really safe for you to be alone those long hours not knowing what could go wrong. Hope everything gets better for you.
