I've just bee given a very low dose of paxil. Every day..10 drop for every day ..(.05mg.) and then 12 drops the next day. Then back to the 10 drops. I can't afford to gain weight. I intend for this to be short term usage. Anybody out there have any advice..plus I've been taking hypothyroid drugs for 3o years. Dr. knows this and prescribed it anway. I'm in Utaly where the drup is called Dropaxin. There was no mention of hypothyroidism in the box of med instructions, contraindications, etc.

As far as I know it should not affect the hypothyroid medication, but a few pounds are normal with the use of an antidepressant. The best thing to do is make sure you are eating the right things, exercising, and getting enough rest so that you can counteract any of the weight gain issues. Not everybody gains weight on the medication in fact, I have heard some stories of women actually losing weight. Especially those that were emotional eaters. I am sure there are other women out there who have gone through this same issue and I expect that you will get a lot of great advice.
