Semen clots almost immediately after ejaculation, forming a sticky, jelly-like liquid. It will liquefy again in 5 to 40 minutes. It is quite normal for semen to form jelly-like globules and this does not indicate any health or fertility problem. Failure of clotting and subsequent liquefaction can cause fertility problems.

The average volume of semen produced at ejaculation is 2 to 5ml. Volumes consistently less than 1.5ml (hypospermia) or more than 5.5ml (hyperspermia) are probably abnormal. Lower volumes may occur after very frequent ejaculation and higher volumes are seen after prolonged abstinence.

I've had this problem for the better part of 2 years. I'm 22 and when i was younger i had what i would call and awesome shot (no like probably a foot or two) but when it started it just would trickle and just one or two little blobs, that turned into bigger blobs, and that that evolved into a mixture of blobs and long "worms". The thing about these blobs/worms is that don't "Melt". They are just there. I've never gone to the doctor about this. Partly because it's probably nothing and partly from embarrassment.

Another thing about this is that sometimes in is a bit uncomfortable to blow one. It's like i can feel it flowing all they way up the tube, then it takes a minute to come out. It just feels alot different than it used to.

A Few FYIs:

- No STDs
- No Problem Getting/Keeping Erection
- Testicles ARE very sensitive afterward
- Feels clogged afterward

I've had the same jelly like substances in my climax for years (going on 15years or so, I'm 37). I thought I would be infertile but low and behold I fathered twins seven years ago. In my case the globs seem to increase if I am aroused several times in a day and then "rub one out". The amount increases also if I am frequently aroused and can't relieve the tension that same day, the amount seems less when I am with my wife though so perhaps the time one takes to work things out does make a difference. I thought they would go away after my vasectomy but they haven't, I read somewhere that the globs are common and normal, I will post the link if I can find it again. It read that these globs are semen and not sperm and that only a very small amount of semen is produced in the testicles so testicular pain or impotency may be symptoms of something different. I don't experience pain or problems with erection. Try using search engines with key words like jelly or gel, I tried clots and found a majority of my results were about blood.

Good luck finding an answer. I've had this going on for over 10 years. I've seen many doctors, urologists, etc. each having different theories. one urologist theorized it was high uric acid levels causing it. as I did have that and gout problems. but now I've lowered those levels into normal range and still have the problem. some doctors and sites say it's NORMAL. I say Bull to that, I get frequent urinary infections. averaging once a year. and have pain sitting on my prostate. when I am on the antibiotic for the urinary infection, the clumps dissapear and my semen turns a bright white again like when I was healthy before this all started. and have strong orgasms with distance. otherwise these clumps cause me pain, get backed up inside me, I can feel them stuck inside. and the longer I go without ejaculating the worse they are. I've studied this very close and noticed there seems to be more clumps torwards the end of my orgasm than the start. atleast in my situation. and if I go too many days without ejaculating, I'm scared to again because I know it may be painful. I've had the prostate exams a couple times. the scope , some other thing that takes an MRI or some picture of it, everything supposedly normal. the doctors don't seem to know what this is. I first thought it was from anxiety medicine I started to take. as it had appeared first shortly after taking that. but I stopped taking it and the problem continued. but I was on anti-depressant at that time as well. another doctor suggested it could be anti-depressants or anxiety medicines, but had no idea how to help me with it. I weined myself off all my medicines at one point and just took st. johns wort for the depression, but that still didn't help. yet anti-biotics seem to stop it, but the doctors claim they can find no infections ??????

To all the people who have posted on this website concerning 'jelly-like' yellow colored lumps in their semen, I would suggest visiting your local sexual health clinic.

The yellow color of the semen is caused by the clotting process, very much in the same way as in the case of 'blackheads', some of you will be aware that if a blackhead is squeezed (not that this should ever be done) the oils within have a frothy white appearance, however, if the blackhead has had time to develop it takes on a translucent form with a yellowish tint, it is basically the same process for the sperm.

As for why the sperm changes in this way, in some cases it can be based on factors such as diet, however, recent studies undertaken in areas of Africa have noted that certain auto-immune disorders and thier complementary virus / bacterium have been found to cause semen to form these lumps as a responce from the body's own immune system attacking the sperm due to thier content of RNA. Though this is NOT necessarily a factor for your own personnal problem some notable auto-immune disorders include: Gamma-radiation sickness-GAMMA radiation, Ebola disease-Ebola Virus, Chicken pox-Herpes Simplex virus, AIDS-HIV virus, Cryoplynphoma-French Jolopiefrience virus.

There might be several causes. One of them is Chlamydia. To take this possible cause out of the way, and focus on some other more serious issues, like prostate infection, get some antibiotics, as recommended by the following link of the CDC

http://www.cdc.gov/std/Chlamydia/STDFact-Chlamydia.htm#treatment

If after the seven days of treatment your semen goes back to the pearly white, you are all set... if not, you might want to check back with your urologist for more prostate related tests..

Hope it helps...

Semen is usually white or grey, but can occasionally appear yellowish. Pink or red semen suggests that blood is present. Although this is only rarely due to a serious health problem, men with semen that seems bloodstained should seek advice from their family doctor.

This seems reassuring

Hi i have the same similar problem. I am 22 years old and i have had this problem for around 7 months. When i masturbate small to medium sized clearish jelly-like balls comes out with my sperm. I have never been much of a water drinker and really i dont drink enough liquids daily by itself.

I have read this whole thread and i think it might be due to not drinking enough water. So i might try to drink a lot of water everyday and see if this problem goes away.

In the past when i didnt have this problem it seems like i lasted longer and it felt much better when i cummed. But now i dont last long and it dont feel as good as it used too. btw it dont really hurt when it comes out either.

It was actually VERY relieving to come across this thread. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem. In fact, it would almost seem as though this is a common problem. I'm 24 years old and I've been having this problem since I was around 16. Didn't start until I started taking Zoloft. Even though I've been off of Zoloft for about 7 years, I still continue to have the problem. I'm about 25 pounds overweight for my height, so I'm thinking this may be partly due to lack of exercise, lack of water, and cell phone radiation. I always keep my cell in my pocket, which probably doesn't help matters at all. I've always been really nervous to see a doctor about this...mostly because I've also noticed recently that sometimes when I urinate, I don't feel like I'm finished sometimes even after it's stopped. I've always been afraid of stupid things and I always fear for the worst. I just don't want it to be something serious, but at the same time, I know it will only get worse the longer it goes unchecked. Sigh...these bodies are such high-maintenance.

The topic is about jelly like clumps which WOULD NOT LIQUIFY! You don't understand because you don't have that problem.

I cannot see any useful point in your comment!

I've had same problem.Last year got rid of it, but now is back.Maybe some of you will get better result than me.Here's what i have done: I took for 3 months Forever pro6 (made by forever living or something like that), 3 pills per day.The problem disappeared, my sperm was bright white again, but after 4-5 month the clots reappeared. This year i tried this treatment again, but it was no result this time.I'm worried, my sexual performance is decreasing more and more, but i do not now what else can i do, the urologist have no idea what is causing that.

I'm 35 and been suffering with this for near on 18 years. I thought something really bad was wrong with me but having read these posts I see I'm not alone and it feels good to get this out of my system. When I ejaculate I get the same result. A decent looking amount of 'normal' sperm then a mixture of the blobs all stuck together in clusters that have a transparent light yellow colour (almost like a 'urine jelly') followed by the last few bits mainly all jelly. I can definitely feel it travelling out of me then I get a dull ache in my right testicle after a few minutes. What disturbes me is that doctors seem unwilling to help. Surely a lab test under a microscope would clarify the issue? I'm sure they could help if they wanted to, which is why I never bothered going to a GP, to save my embarrassment and not bother wasting my time. Hope someone gets an answer to this soon, and to all the sufferers .. were not alone :-)
