I received a shot of cortisone steroid to the right side of my jaw for TMJ. I IMMEDIATELY got such a severe reaction, my blood pressure went way up, I turned sheet-white, had EXTREME DIFFICULTY BREATHING, nausea and the room was spinning. The doctor looked very scared. He just had me sit in his waiting room for about a half hour and then w/out checking me had the receptionist tell me I could go home. I continued to get worse and called him back. He told me not to worry, this was just a "flare". I ended up having to call 911, I could see the paramedics were scared. They took me to a one of the worst rated hospitals in the city. Since it was filthy, I stayed and let them give me some I.V. fluids and struggled home. A couple of days later, I went to the Cedars-Sinai E.R. where they IMMEDIATELY admitted me and kept me for 6 days! Since then though, I never fully got over that cortisone steroid shot. I am now getting severe allergic reactions (my THROAT starts TO CLOSE UP!) to everything from salmon to PINEAPPLE JUICE, and even cookies with almonds in them!!! My face is always swollen on the right side, as well as being numb. When I get a allergic reaction, the itching and swelling is ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY FACE INCLUDING MY RIGHT EYE, WHICH HAS GOTTEN BLURRY!) I also will spontaneously go into allergic reaction mode for no reason at all. I think that he give me the wrong dose, wrong medicine, or hit a nerve maybe? The swelling on the right side of my throat is getting so bad, it starting to feel like something's stuck there when I eat and I start choking , and sometimes during these attacks I see something I think my vein sticking out, again on the right side. I never had allergies or symptoms like these before that cortisone steroid shot. I think maybe it gave me an "autoimmune disease"? I HAVE TO CARRY LIQUID BENADRYL with me at all times now. Right now I just took a garlic capsule and again I got a really bad attack, throat swelling and extreme tightness on RIGHT side of jaw. Could someone please, PLEASE help?
