I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and I will have to start with Celebrex therapy in a day or two. In consultation with the doctor he said that this drug would help me, but I will have to watch out for side effects and that on first sign of some problem, address him. Why is that? What are long term effects of taking Celebrex?

I guess he wanted to warn you of the side effects that might occur with the use of this drug. There are several less serious symptoms like stomach problems, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, headache etc. And there are more serious ones that include allergic reactions in which case, you should stop taking the drug at once. As for some long term problems, risk of heart problems is increased.
