We loved the movie. Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon were not only good but believable.

I picked out the "bad guy" early in the movie even though Robin was convinced otherwise, I picked up some clues that led me to believe and eventually find out I was correct.

The ending is a little unrealistic but overall, the psychological aspects of it were dead on.

Sean Penn was excellent in the lead.
Bacon and Fishburne were paired well as detectives chasing the killer. The "false clues" they find to "bag the killer are typical so I was okay with what they did.

Overall. a Full clip of bullets (12 out of 12)

I watched this movie last night. I thought Tim Robbins did an awesome job playing the not quite right guy. I also thought the wife of Sean Penn was a bit weird at the end. Anyone else get that? I really didn't get what the wife\kid situation with Kevin Bacon had to do with the whole story either. Still a Great movie!!

I read the book, and his character in the book was deeply troubled by his wife leaving. He was particularly hooked on this case because it involved the death of a daughter of someone he considered a good friend and the reality of never seeing his own daughter again, made it all that more personal.
In the end, he was able to get his own daughter back which changed his outlook on life. The assumption is he became a better cop, vowing to get Jimmy regardless of their relationship.

Tim Robbins was awesome in this movie. I can't stand SP but he did play a really great psycho. Not too much of a stretch, I'd reckon.
